ready to go!
5 am SFO geared up and ready to head out So our long and exhqsting flight; we landed at CDG mid morning on thursday (after leaving on wed). Feeling rather confused and out of place, we made it to our hotel, abd set out on the town to explore via 'Fat Tire Bike Tour of Paris' No this was not q pub crawol, but a bike tour on beach cruisers. It was a nice way to get a feel for the geography of this small but busy city and exactly what Robin needed to stay awake (all patrick needed was caffeine). We adjusted to the nine hour time difference fairly quickly by keeping ourselves busy on Friday with a trip to the Louvre. We made sure to give ourselves a whole day so we could see more than just the mona lisa and the "dude" with no arms. The rest of the day included a whole lot of wandering which left us fairly blistered. Saturday we moved a whole lot slower, continued wandering and were awed by Notre Dame. Since Patrick just took an art history class where he studied this cathedral it was great to get the insiders tour on the architecture and lots of other specifics. He pointed out

do we look tired? the only reason we are upright is because we are leaning against each other. thats what happens after a 36 hour day the apse, nave, ambulatory, chapels, and when we passed the confessionals he said "I dont know about those, they look like some sort of palm readers or something" (personal defense- They didnt look like regular confessionals. they were sitting at a table behind a glassed in room with their palms on the table.) We finished the evening by celebrating being so far under budget by going to a resturaunt for dinner instead of the brie and baguette picnics of the past couple nights. The challange was finding a resturaunt where the entire staff was not glued to the Frace vs. Brazil quarter final match. It was fun to see the streets fill and everyone celebrating the French victory....for a couple hours... at about 5am the honking and screaming had started to get a little annoying.
On Sunday we went to Sainte Chapelle walked around the latin quarter and then visited the Rodin museum where we saw the most famous ass in Paris; little did we know, but the majority of the city is closed on sundays, so needless to say finding meals was a bit of a challenge, which left us tired, hungry, and cranky.
Today (Monday) was by far
on the bike tour
this is what patrick thinks of me taking pictures of him... look familiar weirs? the most relaxing day we have had. After our usual breakfast of chocolate croisants, fruit, and juice we hopped on the train to Versailles. We opted out of the tour of the chateau to wander the gardens all day. Our day went a little like this: walk, sit, nap, walk, sit, snack ect. Thanks Louis XIV! Tomorrow we depart for our own chateau on the Cote d'Azure. Can't wait to tell you all about it!
