Woke up early and the 3 of us headed out to the cafe to plan the morning as today is rehearsal day. Katy and I bought the rehearsal bouquet for Sal and also planned out the wedding night gift. Got into our fancy duds and we all took cabs to the church about 11. The American Church is absolutely gorgeous - an old Episcopal church built in the 30's in a very traditional style, lots of stained glass and a good size. Met with the pastor, a retired pastor from Montana, very dear person and went through the rehearsal - this will be such a gorgeous ceremony and spectacle!!!
Then we all walked to the Bateau Parisians dock across from the Eiffel Tower for our lunch cruise on the Seine. Wow! Beautiful boat, great food, wine, music and cruising on the River past all the lovely sights: not just the Eiffel Tower, but the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Notre Dame, going under the famous and beautiful ponts (bridges) and just the lovely old architecture that lines the river. Had a splendid time! Sarah looked beautiful, of course, and all the men were so handsome in their suits and

Seine cruise the girls so pretty (if I do say so myself!). When we came back, we all needed naps, but Katy went shopping until she and I met up with Sal at the cafe for an early girls snack. Before that I went food shopping for tomorrow for lunch and snacks for the wedding party as well as champagne for the church toast.
Katy is spending the night with Sarah tonight as she and Jon will not see each other until Sarah walks down the aisle on Dan's arm tomorrow at 3. Well, I guess I am up to date on our adventures for now. Tomorrow is the big day!!
France is such a different world from the US! In Paris, literally most everyone you see looks good: does not mean they are necessarily handsome or beautiful, but they are dressed nicely, they are not too fat (have not seen any obese people here) and of couse the women of Paris love their clothes and shoes. If I lived here, and could buy the amazing clothes and shoes you see in shops, I think I'd be a lot thinner - although on a diet of wine, croissants, cheese and

Seine cruise chocolate..... that's kind of challenging! Am not sure how they Parisians do it! Walking or biking is maybe one way... Paris is a very user-friendly city: not only is it beautiful for the most part, it's easy to get around on the metro, wandering through neighborhoods is plenty of entertainment for anyone, they love their dogs and bring them everywhere, into shops and restaurants - and the shopkeepers take such pride in whatever they are selling. I LOVE to go food shopping here! The shopkeepers are friendly and helpful and know their products be it the green grocer, wine shop, cheese shop, deli, butcher, boulangerie, whatever - you can count on learning something as well as buying food. Learning about cheeses, or lettuces or wine or chocolate - it's a great experience just to buy foods!
Would never want to drive in Paris, however!! Down these little narrow streets, cars and motorcycles and scooters fly like the wind. If there is a traffic jam, the scooters go up on the sidewalks so pedestrians beware! Big trucks and busses squeeze down little streets and the scooters go flying around them. You never see a traffic cop! Maybe the police are
busy with other stuff, but they do not seem to bother with traffic that's for sure! And of course you have the etoiles - the circles - where you must not be timid or you will stay driving around on the insides of the circle for days. Crazy! Cabbies here are just like in New York, so enough said! Maybe in the countryside it is different.
Soccer is really the only sport Europeans seem to care about. Of course, we have no TV here, so I have no idea really what French TV is like or what's on. I have no idea what is going on back in the USA or in the world. Hopefully, no new disasters..... I like being “out of the loop” frankly - it will all go on quite well without me. I can see spending my days living in the Montmartre, dancing to street music from time to time, walking the dog, visiting cafes - maybe I'd get bored but maybe not..... All it takes is money!
