Hi everyone! We needed a bit of a sleep in and 'catch up' morning after our big day at Disneyland, so Dean and I went out for a run while the kids stayed at the apartment in their pj's playing games on their laptops. We then headed up to the Aligre Market and bought some more fruit, fresh bread and a barbecue chicken for lunch. Headed out about 3ish for what was to be an exhausting but enjoyable afternoon/evening! Lots of walking, so our first visit was to Shakespeare & Co. - a famous bookshop with English texts, very small & 'poky' but full of atmosphere and many books piled up and stacked on little bookshelves and tables. Then onto Cafe de Flora - a highly recommended large cafe full of many formally dressed waiters and high society women carrying their boutique shopping bags. We all had the 'Chocolate Chaude' special - a 7 euro p.p. hot chocolate that was worth every cent!! They were soooo good! After that a walk to the Louvre for an evening onslaught. We all enjoyed exploring a small part of the Museum (it's incredibly huge) focusing on seeing Venus de Milo, Egyptian artifacts and of course, Mona Lisa. At about 7.45pm we decided to tackle the walk home (about 3.5kms) - Lochie and Ains were fantastic and we all managed to have some laughs along the way! Then into a local French/Italian restaurant (20 mt from our front door) for some very good pizza and pasta before falling into bed with very sore legs and feet!
Another recovery morning and lunch at the apartment yesterday (Thursday), before catching the Batobus along the river to visit Notre Dame. Had some Hagaan Daaz ice cream and shared a chocolate crepe(!) It was a beautiful blue skied afternoon, and we went for a moving wander inside the cathedral. Ains and I lit a candle each, and we marveled at the incredible architecture (and silly tourists using flash photography). Lochie then enjoyed checking out the shoe and clothes shops as we walked back to the Batobus, catching it up to the Eiffel Tour for the evening light show. Got there just before 8, then for half an hour watched the blue lights slowly change the structure to something much more beautiful! Headed towards our Metro station, stopping to watch the actual light show on some steps at 9pm (have some video) - it was worth it! 45 minutes later we were back at our apartment, and enjoyed looking at our photos and videos from the day xxxx Love from all the travelling Fullers
