I have no idea why i chose that title. This is how the song goes though.
This is the song that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friends (sing in a high shrill voice).
Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was.
And theyll continue singing it forever just because....
It is the song that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friends....
It comes from lamb chop. Circa sometime early in my childhood so probably late 80's early 90's. I think the lady who used to do the puppets got arrested for drunk driving later or something. Such is the way. (See pee wee herman, he actually recently did a really good spot on reno 911 though. dont hate)
Um oh yeah! This is a blog about me being out of the country!
So as usual it's been tooooo long and I don't know WHERE in the world (is carmen san diego) to begin. Well at the moment I am sitting in a cybercafe with some french kids who are playing halo. THE OBSESSION IS INTERNATIONAL. I am also using an american keyboard for the first time in a
couple months. I also took a bath the other night for the first time in months and slept in a room by myself for the first time in months. All in Paris! How she woos me!
Well Ive been in paris now since thursday evening, and Ive stayed way longer than I had intended partly because of poor planning on my part and partly because my wonderful friend Jeff and my new friend Heather were here from Calilfornia and I haven't seen anyone I knew from the states since my last day in Brazil when I had a brief encounter with the wonderful and beautiful Cristina! I am not sick for home so much as the things that are at 'home' (hard to say home when i dont have one ya know?) I miss my professors, I miss my friends (the ones who actually cared enough to hang out with me before i left anyway! kidding! or am I? ((squinty eyes))) I miss NOT living out of a bag. I miss convience. that's about it though.
So tonight I am on my way to Switzerland. I stayed in Paris at this hotel only because the hostel situation I
had arranged fell through. (too long a story to go into) I didn't know what I was walking into man! Friggin marble in the bathroom! A full bed! A DESK! TOWELS! SWEET BABY JESUS! TOWELS! that i didnt have to buy even!
While I was here I saw the eiffel tower (of course) didn't go to the top of it. You basically have to punch someone in the face after waiting 3 hours to do all of that So i settled for postcards from the bottom. I went to all the major landmarks, except the catacombs which is really the only ones that I wanted to see and they were friggin closed! Can you believe that! Renovations. What the heck do you need to renovate in the friggin catacombs? are they doing the nails of the dead bodies in there, rearranging the coffins? good gawd.
Anyway the weather was a heck of a lot warmer than london, I totally packed wrong, maybe it will be colder in Switzerland. Who knows with this crazy Europe.
OMG i almost forgot about the tv in my room. I was like dying when I saw it. The only thing in english
though was the british news which wasnt so bad except that during the day they were the most awful news network you have ever seen. I swear they rehearsed and replayed the same 2 stories the bulk of the time that I was here. 1) A girl that got kidnapped and then found 2) Paul Mcartneys divorce. Yeah im CAUGHT up. But in the past couple of days they have cleaned it up and they were showing even American events. If not leaving out crucuial details...like WHERE did the friggin crane fall in new york? do they not know how big new york is? criminy.
Anywayy lots of black people in paris. I love it. always nice to go abroad and see more black people than you see at home, if not a little messed up. But what can one say that comes from Irvine. I actually had a conversation on the train today with a black girl who asked for 60 cents and then when i told her i didn't speak french she started talking to me in english (thats usually the case here in paris, except on rare occasions) apparently she has family in new york and
she lived in Conneticut (of all places) for a year and her family (in new jersey) wanted her to try to get a green card and stay but apparently the process was too big a headache for her and she decided to come back to paris where she was legal and had friends etc. She was a very nice girl. Had a little bit too much chin hair for my taste, but otherwise a very nice girl.
London! Do I have time for London? I'll make it quick.
FRIGGIN COLD. They are such whiners too. There was like a moderate windy day and they were like THIS IS THE WORST STORM SINCE THE BEGINNNIG OF TIME. The headline was how windy it was and the picture featured someones umbrella flipped inside out...i can DEFINTELY remember more than a few days like that in the bay. Whats up with these British? The shopping is good in Paris and in London. Paris of course had their really fancy boutiques that only women who bring dogs (never cats?) into department stores can afford to shop.
My hostel was really cool. It was not even 3 weeks old and basically looked
like ikea. I swear even the wood lockers in the room smelled like brand new press board. Haha What else? The Theater!
I saw 4 shows while I was in London. Lion King, Avenue Q, We Will Rock YOu, and Lord of the rings. Here is the review.
Lion King - come on its friggin lion king!
Avenue Q- the most hilarioius play that no one knows about I swear! If you would like to see sesame street deal with the real life problems of the world, and not friggin littering, get to Avenue Q asap. Also the singing and the songs are more hilariouis than the dialogue. eg. The internet is great......for porn!...Everyone's a little bit racist....It sucks to be me.
We Will Rock You - Amazing Music of Queen. Amazing choreography. just amazing.
Lord of the Rings - has only a few things going for it. the way they turned the theatre into a TAKEOVER of the whole theatre. I cant explain it will have to put up pictures later. The Orcs were really great. Smiegel! he was great. The choreography. Really good. everything else. Sucked on ice. the actors playing the baggins
etc. were just terrible. even the fairies or whatever were wack. AND it had the nerve to be 3 hours. ridiculous. but still worth the pounds for the good parts.
Umm what else. I should really be getting to the train station....OH well i can't think anymore. I shall sign off and get to traveling. Time for 50 pounds on my back and like 20 more on my arm. *sigh* talk soon. Miss you alll. Pics later. Promise!
