early morning rise to enjoy "our park" Place Louis Aragon with coffee, croissants, fruit and kindles. blue sky and cooler weather but whatever storm that was supposed to come in is gone and we take one last walk around the island, double check our packing and take a taxi to Gare de Lyon to catch our train to Dijon. Gar Lyon is a big train station with a very famous restaurant, Le Tren Bleu (which we've dined at with Ken Hunter during our first trip to Paris - not this time). figured out we depart at 11:57 from Hall 2 track 21 and have no difficulty finding our nice seats and 90 minutes (bullet train) later arrive in the beautiful Dijon, Capital of Burgundy - Côte d'Or! Toni can't find les toiletts at the station but I think I know why (ask me about it some time) so we march into the city and find a nice hotel, get acquainted and then tour the city. Dijon dates back to medieval times and earlier and is quite charming. we settled into a glass of wine and beer at the Place de Ducs and marveled at the scene. today is a holiday in
enjoying the morning
it's a holiday in France today France so many stores were closed . . . tomorrow we are doing some shopping though! we did buy a fair amount of mustard in various styles. back to the room to plan the evening (with a suggestion from the Davidsons via text for dinner) and found a cinema that is showing "original" films meaning that they are in English with French subtitles and choose Moonrise Kingdon at the Devosge - pretty amazing film, don't miss it but be aware it's weird, typical Wes Anderson film, met a couple who had moved to NY from SF and were visited France on vacation. we're tired and excited about meeting up with our friends Rob and Terry Davidson tomorrow in Dole.
