We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 days in Camaret, but just after noon on the 9thday we left the marina and joined our friends, Louise and Fons (S/V Aju) who left a little earlier headed to an anchorage about an hour away in Anse de Bertheaume. The Renaissance belfry was added in 1576. It is the prototype for double gallery belfries with 2 levels of bells common in the area.

There were numerous artists that had been living in the area and a few of the buildings are decorated with enameled artwork.

After seeing this fuchsia it will be difficult to buy any back in the US – I didn’t know they grew so big!

This area is known for growing onions and exporting them to the UK since the early 1800’s. This carving shows a man with a string of onions to sell. In the UK they were called Johnny Onions as the sellers were named Jean.
