Cruising to Bordeaux

PAULLIAC September 27



Last night we got into PAULLIAC. We had a very nice evening. Had my birthday dinner with Susan and Merv Rettenmund. We had met them on a previous cruise on The Riviera. Merv played baseball for the Orioles and then became s major league coach. He and his wife now travel a lot and are very interesting. The ship of course had a birthday cake for me and singing waiters. The chef came out and wished me a happy birthday. Dennis, Ron and I had celebrated in our suite before dinner with champagne and cheese.





Today we are still in PAULLIAC. Ron and DENNIS went on a tour of Gruard LaRose. We went toSt. Julian to the Chateau and overlooked the property from a 6 story tower. Then to the caves and barrels and then to a tasting. Then we drove through the Medoc regions of St. Estephe and Pauillac passing Lynch Bages, Lafittte Rothschild , Mouton Rothschild, etc. before returning to the ship for lunch.
