Taking Off!Taking Off!Taking Off!

Plane buds Morgan and Wes
Hello everyone!

I have made it safe and sound. Flight was not bad at all. Combination of Advil PM, one German beer, and a newly purchased neck pillow knocked me out for a solid 6 hours. We landed in Frankfurt around 1PM and then took a 3 hour charter bus to Strasbourg on which I managed to get another hour of sleep in.

Upon arriving at our hotel, we got settled and then took a tour of the city. Strasbourg is exactly what I would imagine France to be like. Cobblestone roads, cafes, bread carts, French townhomes. It's absolutely gorgeous. The locals may or may not be too fond of the 22 rambunctious Americans roaming their streets, but we try to be as respectful as possible.

So after all the formalities were taken care of, 19/22 of us decided to relax a little at Le Acadamie de la Biere. Me, my two roommates Shelby and Aly, and our other friends Erin and Ashley got lost of course and wandered around for a good 30 minutes. Almost missed happy hour. Finally we found it, realizing all we had to do was literally walk down the street from our hotel. Cool. But we started off with a beer tower of Kronenbourg, an Alsace specialty. After a few more rounds, the bartender handed us our tab... all 19 of us on one check spent almost 300 euros, which is a little under $400. Nice way to start off the trip.

New Discoveries:

-French people have no concept of PDA. Counted 3 couples blatantly making out anywhere they felt like

-Euros sometimes come in coin form. You're not always tipping them in change. For instance, I left a 2.50 tip on a 7.50 bill... TAM (Total American Move)

-Europeans will run you over if you're in the middle of the road. A ticket for jaywalking equals death over here.

Anyway so after maybe one of the longest days of my life, I'm finally heading to bed. I'll probably be asleep 5 minutes after I lay down considering I'm starting to doze off right now.

Until next time!
