carrots...
they are to eat at the summer cottage this weekend...i told Leena that i am going to turn orange. Today was a special day. I didn’t have a class until 10:15am! It was great! I loved sleeping in late! When I did finally get to school, I had biology! I usually take notes in bio, even though they are in Finnish because there are many scientific words that are similar to the English translation. Today there was a lecture so I wrote Emily a letter in Finnish. It was pretty pathetic actually. I think I ended up saying something like: "I am swim" but Maiju and Henri both read it and helped me fix it! After Bio I had a lunch of potatoes, potatoes and more potatoes, oh yes, and some bread! I had two free periods next so I went for a bike ride though town, absorbing everything! I rode around for an hour or so before I stopped by home to get a drink and then headed back to school for English 4. We had a really interesting lesson in English today; it was about Culture Jamming! Our German exchange teacher taught our class today! After class Eija (my rotary counselor) picked me up and took me to the bank to open my rotary account. We opened it

so pretty tonight! successfully and they gave me my own piggybank for my coins! Eija then took me to her sister in laws house so I could meet her god daughter. After getting a tour of her god daughter’s house, she took me to her home to meet her children! She has two daughters of her own and her husband has two sons. They have a beautiful house on the border of Naantali in Raisio. After meeting everyone, including her dog Heppu and her daughter Emy's two adorable rabbits, she drove me back to school so I could ride my bike home! I got home around six and went down to the dock and sat near the water. I love it down there. It is so peaceful and it is a great place to sit and think. I go down there almost everyday after school before everyone gets home from work; I usually just sit and listen to music. Once a few kids from school happened to come down and we talked for a while, I love when that happens! It’s great to just sit and talk with the Finns, I learn so much! I can’t go down there tomorrow because we are
the boat
host dad and Murre getting onto the boat! going up to the summer cottage, but maybe next week if it is warm someone will come down and visit me! When I came back up from the vesi (water) Emma had gone out to dinner with Tapio and Leena had almost finished cooking our dinner! We ate salad, potatoes, and some kind of roast outside on the deck. There was this really loud bird in the tree, and I was searching for it for a while before I found it and took a pic. It was a really fat dove in its nest. It was in the tree in the neighbors yard so I ran upstairs to my bedroom window where I found a perfect, close up view of the nest! After dinner, I helped Leena lift this HUGE bag of carrots (that only cost 3.50 Euro) and carry it into the wine cellar to keep them cold. Then Henri came over and we all went down to the dock and Erkki took us on the boat to “Adventure Island”. Adventure Island is this tourist attraction opened in the summer in Naantali. It is an island with a bunch of farm animals, fake pirate ships, obstacle courses, outside theaters,
stilts
that was crazy. and cabins on it. Oh, and of course there is a sauna! People go visit during the day and then I think scouts are allowed to stay in the cabins overnight. It is closed now so we had the whole island to ourselves! Henri and I had fun walking on wooden stilts, climbing huge spider webs, and racing in the obstacle course. There was also this really big net thing that I got into and Henri spun me around…we didn’t really figure out the point but it was pretty funny. It started to get dark, and Leena’s legs were covered with mosquitoes so we headed back for me boat and then home. The water tonight was like glass, and the sunset was amazing, it reflected off the water so we had a sunset in the sky and on the water! When we got home Marru came over and the adults sat on the newly painted deck drinking wine, for Marru’s birthday! What a nice day!
