The Group!!!!The Group!!!!The Group!!!!

From left, Anna, Jeanette, Andy, Soj, Andrew, Kiri, Stacey and Julie!
hellllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooo dudes and dudettes,

Yesterday we woke up at the brink of dawn to catch the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia. It looked like a cheesey hotel with VLTs, bingo, crazy bar with a dance floor and the token drunk finnish man. Pretty standard boat trip, so let us move on.

We arrived in Tallinn around noon, checked in and then beelined for the nearest ATM. This particular ATM sucked up one of our tripmates debit card, which was pretty dumb. We ended up waiting around for an hour to find out that the bank could not give her her card back. So to drown our sorrows and to ease our starvation we decided to lunch at the Double Coffee cafe. A bunch of us ordered cheeseburgers and waited nearly 2 hours to get them. What we were very surprised to discover is that in Estonia cheeseburgers do not consist of a delicious hamburger patty with a cheese slice melted on top. Instead, a cheeseburger means deep frying a slab of mozza cheese and putting it in a bun. DELISH! The waitresses were very slow and dumb and mean. That coupled with the cheeseburger incident made Double Coffee a big dumb place.

After that the day could only get better and it did. Our tour group went for a walk through old town Tallinn, where we saw medieval churches and castles. We went for beers at the Beer House where we also happened to have a sauna. Saunas are hot and as a general rule Australians are better at them than Canadians. We met up with the entire group for an Estonian type dinner. I had a lovely lamb stew and andy played it safe and had sour cream. We then headed back to the Beer House where several litres of estonian ale were consumed.

Today we went on walk to some park where we saw Peter the Greats summer home. Less modest, more huge and tsar like. It is an art museum now.

Tomorrow we head to Riga, Latvia where we may or may not watch hockey. Some of us are more excited than others. It is a good thing that Andy brought all of her equipment and her foam thumbs...ahhahahha NOT FINGERS. Anyways, she cannot wait. Her motto is: I do not watch hockey, I play hockey.

This russian keyboard is impossible. Goodbye.

LOVE! Sonja and Andy

OH YEAH, mom and dad. There is nothing as disgusting here as lutefisk. I do not know about a traditional Finnish drink, but they have a moonshine shot that you drink with your appetizers. I will have to get back to you upon further investigation.

Hi again. We didnt actually leave.
Thought of some more things to tell you!
Dad, the cars here are pretty similar to what we saw in Helsinki, small. Lots of Ford Focus here and Mercedes.
Mom, I think that you have seen more of Tallinn than us, what are these knit good that you speak of 8888 question mark
This keyboard is lameeeeeeeeeeeeeee

This might be interesting to some>the Estonian currency is the Kroon and 100 kroons is equal, roughly, to one Canadian dolloar. This is difficult for us sometimes. The bills seems so large but arent actually worth that much. Things in Estonia are noticably cheaper than in Finland and it is going to get cheaper as we go through Latvia and Lithuania and then back to expensive in Austria.

Big ups to Matt Farris! Thanks for subscrabing....or subscribing. Maybe you did both. Its people like you that make this all worthwhile.

Peace

Hi there, Tyborg here again. Nice to hear you're getting plenty of meat on meat on meat action when it comes to your traditional dinners. Looking forward to those pictures, reading is hard. How would you rate the women of Estonia? Are they as hairy as I've heard? What would you give them on a scale of 11 to 42, 36 being the highest?

Sounds like some interesting places!!!???? (I have a question mark on my keyboard). Have you had any Pickled Herring or other digusting foods. Did you know that it is Finnish? Because when your mother fed it to you and you refused to eat it she said, "FINNISH". Thinking of you often. I'm sure you are spreading your Canadian culture all over the place and leaving an imprint wherever you go! Love Auntie B

estonia, home of link
Hey do you guys remember Encino man? Brendan Fraser was the cave man and sean astin told his parents that he was an exchange student from estonia. Thought it might be relevant. Ah, the old sour cream and beer diet. Very eastern europe. Although like most ancient culture has faded away in recent years. I think it was big back when that area was known as Bohemia(I don't even know if estonia and latvia are a part of bohemia but Poland and Czech republic are). This comment might be long, but that is only because these english keyboards are so easy to type on. Maybe you guys should ask at the internet places if they have an english keyboard. They usually have at least 1 computer set up for tourists that don't speak russian unlike the rest of us. Anyway, I subscribed so that I could be more like matt farris and so that i get more emails and feel better about myself. Hockey hockey hockey hockey hockey Oilers hockey hockey hockey Oilers.
