Well.
here goes.

We arrived in Estonia today, with my incredible driving keeping us safe. The Lativans seem to think that a 2 lane road can be straddled by 4 cars with 2 overtaking at once no problems.

I am super car nervous after our car greif in Germany. Who has bollards that come up from the ground under your car to stop you continueing into a restricted zone??? Why not just have a good sign and a lowering barrier, why something that will destroy your radiator?? anyhow we got lucky, a new one(2nd hand) was fitted that night and we were on our way again. German mechanics, i can't fault their dedication.

Back to Tallinn though. We had no real help from the supposed information, but got a room in an old soviet block outside the old city. Not nice really but functional. the old city is nice though, pretty buildings, hundreds of caffees catering to my coffee addiction in all sorts of lovely ways. We visited the city museum today, interesting, not as good as i hoped but worth the 1.50 sterling entry. Nice change from the war museums we have seen lately too. But that has been good to learn more about soviet influence in this part of Europe.

Net access is free almost everywhere, IF you have a laptop with you, so we are in a net cafe in the bus terminal, scungy but it does the job. Will spend tomorrow really seeing this city before leaving on Wednesday for Finland and our last hope at Chinese visas.
well, that is all from me for my first blog. bye!

crazy bollards
Wow - you're right Paul - what sort of crazy place would have bollards that ram up underneath your car with no prior warning!!? Germany, obviously. I can't believe it - what a shock it must have been! I can just imagine the swearing and the tears!! Glad to hear you got through it ok (thanks to Gerhard!) and your travels have continued relatively uneventfully since then! Best wishes, Jess
