For our second day in Copenhagen the weather started dull put improved as time went on.

We started in an area called The Latin Quarter where we went into Vor Frue Kirke, the city’s 19th century cathedral and then ascended Runtetarn via its spiral ramp. After lunch we looked around Christianborg, the seat of the Danish government and took a guided tour of the Royal Reception rooms which included the Queen’s 50th birthday present, outstanding modern tapestries which colourfully depict Denmark’s past.

In the evening we strolled around Christianhaven an attractive new town built in the early 16th century and Christiania a former barracks which in 1971 was colonized by young idealistic people and declared a ‘free city’. The day ended with an excellent dinner and looking at the young people of the city enjoying the fair ground rides in the Tivoli Gardens.
