We don't want to go there, which way is dry?
Does Size Matter?
Tuesday. After a good sleep, I was disappointed to find that the water was only tepid for my shower! The water heater seems to be having an off day.We were on the road by 9.30 having paid our €3 parking charge and off loaded the waste water. The motorway is still boring, but the miles are flying past and were soon at the border and cross into Germany where the motorways continue to be monotonous! We have a coffee break late morning and lunch about one and a half hours later. A German lady asked us if she could take a photo of our Dream Catcher name, she like to collect pictures of interesting stickers. She told us that she was travelling to Denmark in her more regular camper.More miles covered at a good rate until we're about 30 miles south of Bremen, where we hit road works. We accidentally took the wrong slip road and had to make a 12 mile detour. The traffic is slower due to the road works, the signs indicate that vehicles over 2.1 metres wide, are not allowed in the passing lane, we're 1.88 metres, happy days! We move over and manage to keep

moving. I can't imagine how long it would have taken in the stationary queue of mostly wagons that stretched for about 30 miles, hardly moving. Around 4.00pm we pulled onto a service area to work out where we are going to stay overnight. We find a place at a sports centre, on an excellent German website that we have used before, that lists camper stops all over Europe. it took another hour and a half to cover the 30 miles due to the congestion in the road works. We parked up close to 2 other campers under a shady oak tree and poured a glass of shandy. In the early evening there were lots of locals out running, walking and cycling along the many cycle ways that are in this area. After our evening meal we joined them and took Logan for a walk, it's cooler now that the sun is setting, we managed to navigate a circular walk by repeatedly turning right, luckily the land is very flat and there is a communication tower close to where we were parked and we could use it as a point of reference as it is visible for miles. After clearing up our

evening meal and uploading the blog a new camper arrives, it's a self build from the Netherlands, built on a Mercedes wagon, definitely more than 2.1 metres wide, they're either going to be queuing tomorrow or have been today, so yes, size does matter!Wednesday. After breakfast Les filled with water and emptied the toilet before finding the petrol station and filling with fuel. We're on our way by 9.45am, Doris informs us that it's 374 miles to the ferry in Denmark and will take 6 and a half hours, we will wait and see how many delays we meet today. It's another lovely day today with endless blue skies, the weather app predicts 28 degrees. The miles continue to fly by and by midday we're at the border with Denmark. This is the first border we have passed with any sort of control on it, we were waved through but several cars were pulled over for checking. Not long after we stopped for lunch, it always amuses us how much attention we get, people passing by are very inquisitive one young lady confessed that she was being nosey as she walked around us, on our last big trip we were sat at

traffic lights in Istanbul and we saw a man actually walk into a lamp post as he was staring at us, we had to laugh (just a little). Just before we hit the road again, a more mature lady who was eating lunch with her husband opposite us, came over and asked in German if we could get the top, off her drink, Les flexed his muscles and removed it with little effort, all that heavy maintenance work seems to have paid off! By 4.00pm we were beginning to get numb bottoms, so we stopped for some juice and to find a camping stop, looking at Doris's maps we found parking at Horsens fjord, so headed there. It's a beautiful spot where we park overlooking the water, next to us is a car and it's occupants, a young couple, are sat at the picnic bench, after being parked for a few minutes they were asking us about our trip, we chatted for a while before they had to leave. It was lovely to meet you, Justina Barzdaityte and your friend. After our evening meal of WELO, ( prizes for anyone except our family if you know what WELO is) clue -

we need to shop! We took Logan for his walk, there is a path around the fjord that winds in and out of the woods, the low sun and the fresh green leaves on the trees make it very pretty, there are a few men fishing on the banks, and in couple of small boats bobbing on the water, occasionally we saw great crested grebes, their red heads looking very bright as the sun catches them. An hour later and we are feeling better for some exercise.Next we planned our stay for tomorrow, found a supermarket close to it and where to find the ferry to Norway. Doris has all the information we seem to want! Thursday. We were awoken by the cuckoo calling, unlike the one who lives in a small Swiss Cottage on our kitchen wall, who tells the time very well, this one told us it was 28 O'clock, now, have we overslept or is it too early to get up? After maintenance had done the vehicle checks we set off 135 miles to Hirtshals where we take the ferry to Larvik, Norway. We arrived early afternoon, shopped, wandered around the town and then walked to the ferry line to buy a ticket for tomorrow, the ticket office was closed! Never mind we'll book on line. After filling with fuel Doris helped us find a parking spot at Uggerby, overlooking the beach and sea, with a forested area behind it. There are a couple of other campers here. After while of sitting out, another English couple arrived (Bad manners! We didn't get their names) We chatted about travelling, they were 1 month into a 6 month trip around Scandanavia. After giving them a tour of Dream Catcher a shower blew in, so we went our separate ways, they planned to park a little way back into the forest. In the evening we watched a couple of episodes of Dinner Ladies, I had forgotten how funny this show was. It was so like the kitchen at Buxton Community School!

More photos to follow, problems uploading.
