In Bornholm. SORRY! No blog entry for so so looong!
My excuse is that I had to write out a report for rotary about my stay so far and I... Couldn't be bothered doing this as well 😊 Some of the stuff I write in here will probably be copied and pasted from that report, too. Hooray for being lazy!
SO! At the end of March I went to my school Gala (like the ball). It was ok, not fantastic, but not bad. I stayed with Matilde and Sarah almost all night. The Gala was held in the school, which I found a bit strange, and they had a live band, and no dj. I think, though, that the weirdest thing about it was that there was a bar where the students could buy beer, wine or shots. By the end of the night there were people throwing up and passing out all over the place.
A few weeks ago I went to Bornholm with my second host mother, Julie, and her two children, Elisabeth and Eric. Her husband Johanas stayed home as he has to prepare a seminar to present in London or something...
Bornholm is a small
Bornholm path
Leading out of the forrest near Julie's parent's house. Danish Island. It's actually closer to Sweden, so we had to drive through there to get to it. Now I can say that I've been to two European countries!! Bornholm is possibly the most beautiful place I have ever set eyes on. It's so quiet and consists mostly of fields, rocky cliffs and valleys, pretty beaches and forrests. On my second day there I went with my family to the ruins of Hammershus Castle. It was so incredibly beathtaking; I've never seen anything like it. It was huge and magestic and situated on a cliff, overlooking a huge valley on one side, and the open sea on the other. I had a fantastic time and I was so excited when Julie said that we will be going there again in the summer, when I will actually be living with her family. We stayed with her parents, who live there.
When I came home from Bornholm I stayed a few days with Julie's family, which was great. I just relaxed and was feeling very creative so I wrote a couple of short (and pretty average, but still) stories, did some scrapbooking, and made a doll! His name is Max :D.
I'm making another one now for Austen, but it's complicated and takes a lot pacience (sp? I can't write English anymore) so it's taking me a while... Haha.
Last week we had an American class visiting my class at school. Last year, my class visited them in New York so I guess it's a sort of class exchange thing... Because of that we didn't do much school work. Instead, we did tourist-y things (which was great for me!). We went to a Viking museum in Roskilde, as well as the huge chapel where all the royal family are burried, and we went to Tivoli. Tivoli is an amusement park almost in the heart of Copenhagen. It's really good, and there are concerts there every Friday night, with some pretty big names. I'm thinking of buying a season pass, because they're actually really cheap and you can go to all the concerts without paying any extra if you have one. Also, there are some nice park-like places in Tivoli so we can just go in and have a picnic or whatever any time we want if we have the pass. Kate has already bought hers and I think I will
buy mine on Thursday, after language school
This week I returned to language school, as well as doing normal school. I'm actually at school at the moment. It's lunch time.
Yesterday, I received information about Euro Tour in the mail... I'm so excited! We leave in less than a month to go!
I've also been looking into hockey clubs that I could join. There are a few around Copenhagen but so far they all seem pretty serious. I need to play for a more casual club, I think, because I know that I won't always be available to play/train because I am travelling etc. so much... So the search continues!!
I've still been going out on the weekends with my Copenhagen crew, plus people from Jutland who often come down for the weekends. Usually we go to the Australia Bar, which is fun, if a little lame. Last weekend we went out for Ashlees 18th birthday, and Jess from New Zealand stayed at my house. It was really fun but we got home at 7 o'clock in the morning (missed the last night bus so had to wait for the first train), so I slept through
Tower
Of Hammershus most of Sunday.
School is still pretty good. Sometimes it gets a bit boring (today, for example, because we have an 8 hour day), but I really like the people that I sit with, so it's nice chatting with them during breaks and stuff.
Next Sunday, I leave for Belgium with Julie and her family. We will be there for a week 😊 It should be great! I'm not entirely sure what we are going to do there, but apparently we are staying with Johanas's family, who are Dutch. They don't speak any Danish, and Julie's family don't speak any Dutch, so it looks like it's going to be a full week of English for me 😊. Apparently they have hired out a house where we will all stay... I think we are also going to stop off in Germany or some country near by on the way back, so that's exciting too. I still can't get over how easy it is to just move between countries in Europe.!
So, expect a new blog and new photographs when I return!
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY YORMAAAAAA!!
