Morning: This morning woke up at abt 9+ cos we will be taking a day trip today and the whole family will be going out also at about 11:30am. And Frank´s mum has already prepared a nice breakfast for us on her kitchen table! Wow what a nice spread! Even tho she couldn´t communicate w us, she still chatted w us and we kind of understand her gestures and some words. We, on the other hand, kept saying ´Dikuji´to her, which means thanks in Czech whenever she helped us w anything. So we quickly ate our breakfast and got ready to go out w the parents. Buses to and from Brloh is extremely infrequent so we needed to catch the 12:50pm bus that will take us to Cesky Krumlov. So while waiting for the bus, we visited the supermarket and walked around the small village to get a feel of how they live. Cherry blossoms are in bloom now and they look so bright and pink in their gardens, we even spotted an interesting-looking tree that looks like a shaven xmas tree, think it´s a kind of Easter tree. We walked for about an hour and then we took the half-hour
journey bus to Cesky Krumlov.
Afternoon: Reaching the bus terminal at Cesky Krumlov, we walked a distance to the main town centre and it was beautiful! No wonder it´s a UNESCO heritage site. Very old and medieval town w a beautiful pink castle tower, surrounded by a narrow river. We walked down the slopy walkway and went first to the castle of course. Just in front of the main entrance of the castle, there´s a moat w 2 bears in it. This resembles the one I saw in Bern, Switzerland and I just felt sad for them cos they are enclosed in a small area and it´s like being trapped in a deep well and nothing else to do but watch the sky above and let people stare at you. We then made our way into the castle and decided to climb the tower first before we get too tired later. I've lost count of how many towers I've climbed during these 2 months, so this one goes right into the easy list, not very tall, prob about 100 over steps. View was fantastic as usual and we spent a while taking pics from all angles before going back down
and continuing to explore the rest of the castle. We climbed a steep slope up at the end and reached the castle gardens. By this time we are getting hungry so we found a nice tucked away restaurant right at the end of the garden and settled down for lunch. Very traditional fire grill is crackling the woods that it's burning and we felt like we are in the medieval times. Ordered quite a fair bit and ate to our heart's content. Left the restaurant a happy person and walked around the garden for a while before finally leaving the castle itself and to wander along the tiny streets and numerous shops. Lots of wooden figurines for sale and I'm so tempted to buy them but they are too heavy to lug around my trip so have to let go of it. After lots of fun discovering new things in the old town, we realised we need to go catch the 6:30pm bus back to Brloh which is the only one back so we quickly started to walk back and waited for the bus to bring us right back to the quiet village.
Night: We reached back at about
7+pm and went home to rest and relax. Frank's mum again prepared a nice simple dinner for both of us and we are happy again. Tonite, we decided to try something so we went to recce the grass patch right behind Frank's house and chose a good spot. After dinner, we watched some Czech sports channel together w Frank's parents which is ice hockey, we were all getting excited by the teams competing each other. Night falls finally at about 10pm and we packed some stuffs and left to place our mats on the grass patch, hot water, some cakes, a torchlight and lie down on the mat to look at the millions and billions of stars above us. The night was so cold, we wrapped ourselves up and jus stared at the niteskies. It's been so long since we've done this, almost 10 years ago when we were still in Perth. You need complete and absolute darkness around you to be able to see the stars clearly and Singapore is definitely not the place to do that, everywhere there're lights and it's brighter than the stars. But we have a tiny episode while lying there cos behind us is
the forest and we suddenly heard some sounds coming towards us but it was so dark we can't see so I shone the torchlight towards the forest but we still can't see what is making that sound that is getting louder and nearer towards us. At that point we were pretty scared but then it seemed to change course and headed to the other side and the sound got softer...Phew...so we continued to chat and drink and eat till we got too cold and decided to head back. I think Frank's mum found our activity that night very strange and amusing so she told Frank and his dad. They were amused too... :o) strange Asians who prefer to sleep in the open...
