Outside the Hascici, great display of fireworks, the best view and awesome company, couldnt be better. Traditional Czech food at Xmas time is fried carp and potato salad, it is very tasty and after learning about how they harvest the fish in South Bohemia, you begin to appreciate the carp, although in Australia carp is a pest, in Czech Republic it is the only fish, the Xmas lunch which every Czech looks forward to.

Xmas cake is also an essential food item to indulge in over the festive season.
A sweet cake which is plated and then baked. similair to a scone,
it has raisons and almonds too.
The Czech customs around Xmas time are lovley, Cert ( devil ),
Andel (angel), Milkulas (St. Nicholas) small children gather,
usually the school classes and confess to Mikluas and Andel
whether or not they have been good or bad throughout the year.
They promise that they have been good and therfore shouldnt
be punished by the cert of course...Ja slibuju...
The cert is an ugly creature, half man, half beast
and he is dressed in strange clothing, has messy hair
and has chains on him, he carries a tool to beat the children
and a large sack to put them in. Atfer that he will boil and stew

them and have them for supper. If the children have been good the
get a bag of goodies, fruit, nuts, sweets.

We decided to make an Australian delicacy...the great meat pie and visit Ales's friends and family in Pocatky. It took us 4 hours to do the pastry and then prepare and stew the meat n gravy. I made a punch from rum and Ales had 2L of fernot stock and tonic otherwise known as Bavorak. We got pissed, every stop, we ended up having a drink. It was a nice way to start NYE, 4pm until we ended up at Stefls playing with their kids Christmas pressys and drinking and eating. A top display of fireworks outside the firemans hall, better than Sydney,
front row seats. And everyone knew eveyone, it was such a friendly atmosphere, hugs,
kisses and drinks.Ales was hammered, we finally went to the party of the year
...Ales Polvolny...what a ripper, he'd been constructing a new flat above,
freshly rendered walls, 3 pub tables and loads of booze and food. It was 4am I took Ales home and the party hadn't finished yet. Nice one ay.
