Canberra to Munich

30/6-1/7/14

After over 24 hours of flying, we all arrived in Munich about lunchtime on 1 July. We quickly dropped off our bags and set off to see the sites that were recommended by some of the Emirates flight crew. Our first stop was the Marrianplatz, the tourist and shopping area of Munich. We were all keen to stretch our legs and get some fresh air, so we walked and walked and made our way to the English Garten, which is a little like Central Park in New York, very green and picturesque. The local Munchens surf in the river that runs through the park, the river isn't that big or wide! We were told we may see some nudists there too! We did.....an old guy of about 70, not what I was expecting at all.

In the English Garten we found a bier Garten and sat down in the sun to enjoy our first stein (1 litre of bier) and one of the best sausages and sauerkraut I've ever eaten, we were joined by two of the Emirates hosties, I'm not sure how they found us, but they did! They entertained us for hours with stories of their travels from

all over the world. It had been a long couple of days and we were pretty tired, that ends our first day in Germany.
