Prague
View of town from Prague Castle Prague, one of the most beautifully perserved cities in Europe. We had heard to much about the place that expectations were high, and the place did not disappoint us. We took the night train from Berlin to Prague. We stayed at a small okish hotel -
Hotel Prokopka booked from booking.com. Our room was huge, part of a apartment, but a bit old. We liked the place in general, would recommend it.
On first day, we decided to go up to
Prague Castle. We started walking from the hotel and thought that we knew where are going. But we did not, we were hopelessly lost somewhere in the town. We asked someone for directions and found a tram stop, and after changing lot of trams and going through almost all of Prage, we reaches the Castle. The castle and cathedral were really beautiful. Then we walked on the
Golden lane and came to front of the castle. This place had really good views of the whole town. It was like a painting. Very colourful buildings and the river flowing in between, really pretty site. I could not stop taking pictures.
From the castle we decided to walk down and then go to
Food
Something sweet to eat after visit to castle the famous
Charles Bridge. The walk from Castle was nice. On the way we saw someone making some interesting kind of sweet. It was very good on the cold day. the bridge looked much older and unmaintained than I thought. But it was full of life. There were lot of artists showing there art or selling some. We also saw a really good live puppet show. The view of river and city from the bridge was very nice.
The bridge ends at a very lively spot. It has many beautiful very toursit style store, selling such cute local art. We just could not help buying some. We also saw a lot of people selling concert tickets, and we kept wondering why concerts are so famous here. Soon it got dark and very cold and then we realized why everyone was buying the tickets 😊. We walked around the main square and saw the famous
Astronomical clock. Since Christmas was around the corner, there was a mela at the main square. Lots of little shops, food. We were surprised by finding Aloo Tikki there! yum!
As the evening progressed and got colder, we saw a huge crowd gathered there.
Main Square
All decorated for Christmas We had no idea why, but we hung on. If so many people are hanging around, something must happen. And soon we saw a stage, live music and after a lot of wait - lighting of the christmas tree! It was a very nice surprise, totally unexpected and totally European. Our trip was already made.
Next day we decided to start with walking near the train station, towards the river. We saw some interesting colourful buildings on the way, walked upto the
dancing building. From there we walked along the river to main square. It was a really nice and beautiful walk. After lunch we went into the old town. There were some old Jewish places, a very
old Synagogue. Over all, lot of walking on the day and very beautiful city.
