A Romanesque church built in 13 centruy with a Gothic style A mind boggling day.........A Prague city tour and Tour to castle. Head full of information , folk stories given by the 2 enthusiastic guides.
But let me put everything in perspective before go in to detail.
Prague is a mountaneous city with rich culture. Inhabited many centuries ago initially by a celtic tribe Boii at 400 BC and then Slavic Czech groups., Charles the 4 th is the greatest king in Czech history. He governed the Roman empire in 14 th century and built many historic places including St Vitus church in the castle.
In 15 th century relegious group called Hussaites (the demand reforms in troubled catholic church) threw out 2 councillers of catholic church begining crusade wars. Jen Hus the rector in Charles university was the founder of Hussaites and he was later burned to death by catholics in 1415.
Then came Rudolf the eccentric king who like collecting arts and many more things . Czechs got independence in 1918 following perish of austro- Hungarian empire.
Following WW11 , communist party ruled the country but with velvet revolution in 1989 Capitalism arrived.
Its every cathedral, old building has a history and lots of folk stories.

Loreto - a church where there is a saint who helped the girls who are forced to marry. He make those girls a beard so that Bride groom will reject her !
Jewish Quarter.
Jewish people were forced to live a confined walled area in prague for more than 6 centuries. They had a small cemetry and bodies were burried here in 10 layers.During Nazi time 75 ,000 jews lived here were sent to concentration camps and most perished. 15000 childrens also sent to a concentration camp where at the end only about 100 survived. A teacher secretly gave the art lessons and got them painted pictures. And before she was killed she put thousands of those paintings on 2 suit cases and buried. They were later found and now put in exhibition. These paintings show houses, family and mountains etc but nothing of misery they are undergoing.
Buildings in Jewish quarter kept intact by Hitler since he wanted Prague to be his cultural capital and Jewish quarter as a place of extinct race .

Hussite christianity was started here .There were many wars (crusade wars) between Hussites and catholics. One of them was started since Hussites throw 2 catholic priests from castle windows in to sharp spears kept in ground.
In 1945 after the death of Hitler, Prague was still controlled by Nazies for few days and later forced to leave by Czechs(Czech uprisal). When russians arrived to prague nazies already surrenderd to Allied forces. 300 russian soldiers who fought with Germens (They are called russians against communism) also surrendered to Americans but later handed over to russians and leaders hanged , others sent Siberia .
Gason the sea lion who swimmed and swimmed. In 2002 the bell in castle cathedral had a crack and then the floods which submerge the city. Garson the sea lion used the opportunity and swimmed days reaching to germeny. It was caught with lot of rubbish in its belly but died with a heart attack whilst tranfering by a helicopter.
