Vienna with the Fins!
Tyler, Sherissa, Hanna, Shannon, Annsi, Aussi. What a gang of travellers! I seem to start every one of these things with some kind of apology for not writing. However, things are different now. I am a new man. A stronger man. One that is too self-centered and wrapped up with his own world to apologize. So if you want one...tough. As each and everyone of you know, being overseas is quite demanding, I don't think I need to apologize about not writing because it only means that I'm not sitting in my crumby little apartment not doing anything. And I haven't. Here is a rundown of what my holiday consisted of.
1. Vienna: Right before I left...with the girls. It was amazing. I thought it was more beautiful than Prague, but then again I saw the sun all day long and did all the touristy stuff instead of studying teaching. We met this wonderful Finish family who was travelling (two brothers and a sister) and we hung out with them the entire time. It was the girls first time in a hostel, and we all loved it. We did a walking tour of the entire city, seeing all the great sites. For the evening activities, we went to the city hall
Grandparents normal view
This was in Laguna Beach, a day after Xmas. I heard it Prague it was -7 this same day...HA! and walked around the xmas market...a site to be seen. We ate Austrian food, drank Austrian coffee, and did Austrian things. We even met an Austrian guy who took us out that night to the "Bermuda Triangle"...a big area for bars/clubs. It was a great night...The next morning we went to the Schoenbrun Palace to the west of the city and walked through all the beautiful gardens. Again, it was absolutuely breathtaking and awe-inspiring to say the least.
2. THE UNITED STATES: After the course was over it was back to Houston for a couple days before my family and I got in the car and headed for San Diego to spend Xmas with the grandparents. We stopped off in Tucson to play golf at a really fancy resort. It was one of those golf courses that have the bright green fairways on top of desert as far as the eye can see. With huge vistas, elevation drops, and perfect greens, it was a wonderful course. I still can't believe my dad beat me...Just to mention it, we also celebrated my parents 27th? wedding anniversary at a fancy restaurant with Chateau Briand and great wine. I won't forget it
Trish's Brother at the Plaza de las Naranjas
The small street corners in Marbella were so quaint...I loved it. We ate tapas each night. for a long time.
Then it was San Diego, where I got to see Shannon, the Czech light in my eyes, for a couple days. Xmas was great, and I would have been thouroughly depressed if I wasn't back there with Grandpa and Grandma (both sets) opening presents and doing xmas stuff as a family.
3. LONDON: Actually, it was a cute little town an hour south of London called Hythe, where Trish Pavlecich's parents are now residing. It is right on the English Channel, and on a clear day you can actually see France on the other side. With the seagulls chirping every morning, it was such a glorious little city...I flew over there to spend a wonderful New Year's with Trish and her wonderful family. It couldn't have been any better.
4. COSTA DEL SOL, SPAIN: The next day the Pavlecichs and I got on a plane and headed to the south of Spain for a few days of sunburns and golf. We stayed at a really fancy Marriot Hotel in Marbella, Spain, right in the heart of Costa Del Sol. There, we sat on the beach, looked for seashells, and ate Tapas almost every night.
Golf at Cabopino
The mediteranean at every glance. It was a beautiful course...too bad I shot a stinkin 82! It was a fiesta the entire time. I even got to play some golf at a cool little course called Cabopino, overlooking the Medditeranean at every turn. I have to give my absolute thanks to each and every Pavlecich. It was a trip to remember.
5. PRAGUE: Now I'm back "home", I guess. I got into my new apartment, and I'm starting to look for that ever elusive job to start the craziness all over again. Who knows where the next few weeks/months will take me. If I get exhausted looking for a job here (because i hear its pretty exhausted...) I might try my expertise somewhere a little east of here...say....China, Taiwan, or Japan. Anybody got any suggestions.
I hope this letter, like the last, finds each and everyone of you happy, rested, and ready for a wonderful 2006. My predictions say that its going to be the best year of everyone of our lives!!
