I had apple strudel with whip cream and a Macchiato at this cafe...mmmmm.
Okay, now that I have been here a month I think I can start making suggestions on cool places to chill in Prague. Not for those reading my blog because they love me and are keeping track of my life on the Eastern side of the pond, but rather for those seeking information because they are planning on visiting Prague relatively soon.
Last night I went out with Carey, Chris and Josh and we wandered around looking for a good bar to sit and chat in til the wee hours and we stumbled upon a quaint little place called Hany Bany which is situated in close proximity to the Faculty of Philo. (the building where our classes are held, except for my Global Economy class which happens to be way out on the East side of town beyond the moon that I am always late for partially because of the distance but mostly because of the early time of day it happens to be at). Hany Bany is a warm, dim, chill atmosphere and there happened to be free tables on a Friday night. The bartender was super friendly, which is a rarity in these parts and prices were neither cheap

nor outrageous. Another recommendation for a weekend bar is Shadow, located on the West side of the Vltava river at the foot hill of Petrin Hill. On the weekend Shadow is crazy packed with the younger crowd and there is a dj spinning and occasional free styling, always in Czech. The drinks are definitely reasonable and the customers are generally friendly to us obvious foreigners. One of my favorite pubs here is a little dutch place called De Brug (the bridge). I'm not sure if I mentioned it in previous blogs or not but it is a great place to go with a large group because there's always room to accommodate the size. There's not a lot of excitement going on there so you have to create your own fun, but that's generally not too difficult when you're out with friends. The same bartender is always in there and always chatting with clientele in a Cheers-esque sort of way.
Clubs are always hit and miss depending on the night, the people there, the people you are with and what shoes you decide to wear (chicks can understand that one). The Roxy has no cover charge on Mondays and Mecca is

free on Wednesdays so I think that attracts the students and creepy old men. Most weekends there's always something bizarre to see. A club that is free is Le Chateau, which is a legend in itself here. Almost hidden behind the old church in Old Town Square, Chateau is where most people end up at night because after midnight the basement has free entertainment...and by free entertainment I mean there's always someone/some people completely trashed making a fool out of themselves, the kind where you kinda feel bad for them, but know that they will be laughing about it the next day, if they remember.
As long as I am mentioning places to go out Friday and Saturday, I will also tell you that the Globe serves amazing brunch til 4 in the afternoon Saturday and Sunday and is one of the best places in town to get fresh squeezed orange juice and a giant mug of American coffee.

Try these
The oldest pub in Prague called U Fleku and the pub with the best goulash in the world. Oh sure, you think I have the name??? It could be: Best Pub Gulás (Goulash): Old Town's boisterous U Vejvodu (tel. 224-219-999) dishes out a fine spicy goulash along with Pilsner Uruqell. Anyway, this sounded good to me. Have fun and keep up the good work, Luv Unc G
