Today we went to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Plzen, the home of the most famous Czech Beer and the place where all of the Pilsner Urquell for the Czech Republic is made. Apparently, Pilsner Urquell was the first light lager and 2/3 of all beers today have had their origins in the absolutely AMAZING beer.

We went on the tour of the original and modern brewery. The tour showed us the entire process. We got to see and taste all ingredients, watch the barley being turned to malt, the malt water and hops cooked in the giant copper ovens and then they add the yeast and store it in THE 9KM OF UNDERGROUND TUNNELS that run under the factory. Fucking freezing. Its constantly 10 degrees celcius down there. We got to taste how the original beer tasted, without filtration or pasteurization, and then we got to taste a modern one at the restaurant.

We also got to see the bottling plant which bottle like 60,000 bottles an hour per machine.

Phe...nomenal.
