The beach
Really nice water. It dropped off very quickly to deep water. Hi everyone! So we find ourselves in Croatia now, on the isalnd of Kočula, and so much has happened since we last wrote that it might take a wee bit of writing here to catch up. First of all, we loved Vienna and had a great time our last few days there. We went to the Opera and ate at some great restaurants, I tried everythign from goulash to currywurst and loved it all. On our last day we ended up renting a car and driving the Wachua valley on the Danube from the towns of Melk to Krems. It was so beautiful (pics to come soon when we can find a computer that will let us upload them!) and we had a lovely day driving the twisty roads and checking out the little towns and wineries. It was totally picturesque. Driving in Vienna itself was a bit hectic, to say the least, but Colin kept his cool and we got back to the rental place in one piece-- although about and hour later than we intended as we had a "detour" of sorts. ie: we ended up driving the same stupid street 3 times over. It was a total adverture

Tanning on the boat and a super old monasary on one of the islands though, and a day well spent. When we left Vienna on Tuesday it was still chilly and rainy so it has been nice to get to Croatia and to the SUN! Our flight was bumpy (for those of you who know how much I hate to fly you can imagine me white-knuckled and panicing, crashing through the air convinced it was my last minutes on earth) but we made it safely (of course). Dubrovnik was magical, truly amazing. The city is like a fairytale. Our accomodation was right in the old town (up a set of 200 or so stairs!) and we spent our two days there walking around and explorng the old walls. Again, we had excellent food and wine and just relaxed. One bar we went to was literally clinging to the sides of the castle walls overlooking the sea. It was gorgeous. We also had our first swim, which was great, and what a change fom Vienna to come here to summer again where everyone is tanned and swimmng and relaxed! Dubrovnik reminds me a bit of Venice with less crowds and cleaner water. Today we left Dubrovnik and took a ferry to Korčula where we have

at the end of the day. we are both quite a bit browner. found the most lovely sobe (a room for rent in a Craotian house). The couple we are renting from are grandparents and do not speak a word of English except Hello, but they seem very kind and the room we have has a view of the sea and the town and our own little table and chairs on a balconey. We will probably spend the next fours days here lazing about. We plan to rent a scooter tomorrow to check out the rest of the island. I think this will be just what we need, supreme relaxaton, before we head to Budapest and back into the thick of things with city travel. Well, that is all for now, we will post pics as soon as possible. Miss you all, much love! Heather and Colin too!
