Shaun the dog!
Relaxing on our patio, he came to visit us daily :) Our last few days in Croatia we just wanted to relax. We had done our bit of touring / excursions and seen some really beautiful places. We were now happy to enjoy the sunshine, relax by the sea, and spend time with the dog "Shaun" who kept making an appearance at our apartment, he was lovely.
However, we did have one more disaster involving the car ! We had been to Lidl, and when we drove out of the car park we suddenly realised that we were being pulled over by the police!! 😞 It turns out that we had left Lidl via the entrance and not the exit, which in Croatia is obviously some serious offence and can leave you with hefty fine. (Or at least that is what they tell the tourists to get easy money from them) We had fun trying to explain the whole situation about why neither of us actually have a driving license. I thought Chris was going to get arrested at one point, especially when he realised the male officer was a Manchester United fan! Anyway we paid the fine on the spot, (it work out to be around £30) and we drove
off. By this point we were both kind of lad that we were nearing the end of our holiday!
We spent one of our last days in a place called Pine Beach Resort. This was about half an hour drive away from where we were staying, in Pakostane. This was an all inclusive resort, but we discovered that you could buy a wristband for the day for around £10 each and you got access to the private beach and lunch was also included in the price, which was a buffet style with a large variety of food on offer. This place had some really lovely beach huts where you could stay too. We had a really nice day here relaxing on the sun loungers, swimming in the sea and making the most of the all you can eat lunch!
On our last day we spent the morning at the beach by our apartment. It was only a 5-10 minute walk away across the main road. It was very quiet and peaceful , how days spent at the beach should be!
We found a beach bar on the way into Zadar where we had a beer
while watching the sunset , then had a very nice last meal in the city 😊
It was soon time to pack up and leave Croatia to head back home to England! But not before another mishap! We drove ourselves to the airport in the rental car, there was a drop off point for the company we hired it from and a box to post the keys back. We did all this and headed into the airport to get a drink before going through check in / security. Then Chris's phone rang. It was the car rental company. They were calling us because we hadn't re-filled the fuel in the car. Apparently you are supposed to fill the tank back up to how it was when you first got the car! Neither of us knew this, we hadn't been told when we got the car and we didn't read the small print so i guess it was a silly mistake on our part. Fuel was very cheap in Croatia so to fill the tank back up wouldn't have cost us that much, but because we had not done this we were charged yet another fine! I cannot
Beach
This was the beach closest to us, very quiet but stunning! remember exactly how much we were charged but it was definitely a lot more than the fuel would have cost!
We had a good time in Croatia, we visited some really beautiful spots but after all the things that went wrong we were happy to be leaving.
