Grizzly Bear
The stop off at the farm was a nice surprise , especially to get to see the bears! During our stay in Croatia, we decided to book a trip to a place called Plitvice Lakes. We didn't know much about this place, only what we had been told by the lady who was selling the excursion. We were shown some photo's and it looked incredible, beautiful lakes with turquoise water, multiple waterfalls and amazing greenery! We couldn't wait to arrive there and explore.
It was an early start for the tour, we were picked up by a private driver who drove us into the city of Zadar where we got the coach from. We were advised that as we were going quite high up into the mountains it can get quite cold, and sometimes be raining. Ooops i hadn't planned for any other weather than sunshine so i had to treat myself to a jacket from one of the gift shops!
On the way to the lake there was a stop off involved, this was at a local farm which, as you would imagine had farm animals but randomly there were also grizzly bears on the farm! We got to have a walk round and have a proper look at the animals, and take photos if we
We got wet!
Enjoying the surroundings! wanted. We have added a photo of one of the bears. After a short time exploring the farm, refueling on coffee etc we were back on the coach heading further up into the mountains.
When we arrived as far as the coach would take us , it was time to change over to a bus, which looked just like a train. This was our form of transport to take us to the exact point of the lakes.
We then assembled to meet our tour guide and begin the walk around the national park. It is made up of sixteen lakes , inter connected by a series of waterfalls and set in deep woodland which is populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. Fortunately on our visit here we didn't bump into any bears whilst walking around! What a stunning place this is, as advised it was quite cold because you are so high up but this does not affect the beauty of this place. It really was gorgeous. The colour of the water wasn't like anything we have seen before, it as so green. We learnt that the colour can vary depending on the quantity of
Just beautiful
The colour of the lake is stunning! minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of the sunlight. The lakes are separated into lower lakes and upper lakes, both equally as interesting but the view form the upper lakes really was breathtaking. The waterfalls were just as amazing, there is something quite mesmerizing about watching a waterfall. The wooden walkways were interesting to walk along thorough the waters, but they could become quite slippy. One thing that did disappoint us on the day was that the cave which you would normally be able to go inside was closed off because it had flooded. It would have been interesting to have a look inside, however it wouldn't have been safe for us to do so.
The views and tranquility of Plitvice Lakes really made the trip worthwhile, and we would highly recommend anybody who is visiting Croatia to definitely book an excursion here! This place is not to be missed!
