Hi Guys!
Well I can’t believe it’s all over and I’m writing this Blog to you. I can’t put into words what a brilliant time we had, despite a bit of rain and a few bouts of seasickness it was all smooth sailing!
We arrived in Split on Friday 19th June (after a 6am flight from Gatwick) and had a lovely guy show us round our Apartment. Once we’d dropped our stuff off we all met back and headed to a Pizzeria right on the beach that we ended up spending the entire afternoon at. It was the most amazing first day, scorching hot and everyone was excited for the week to come. By 10pm we were all pretty sunned out so headed to a local Restaurant for Dinner and said Hello to Rhiannon who arrived a bit later.
On Saturday we hung out at a local Sports Café and watched the Rugby before boarding our Boat ‘Maja’ (pronounced Maya) at Midday. We were given a low down on all the rules and regulations whilst on board and then shown our rooms. They were literally just tiny Wardrobe like Cabins with a sink to the left, a shelf
to the right and bunks straight ahead. So needless to say -we didn’t spend a whole lot of time in there.
On day one we had a feast for lunch (served on board and included in the price) which was a great introduction of the amazing meals we were to have over the next 7 days. Each day we were served Breakfast at 8-9 then lunch around 12-1 which was always a delicious soup with fresh Bread followed by either Chicken or Seafood done with either potatoes or some Yummy Sauce and Rice. The Cook really was marvellous -as were all the Crew on Board.
That night was spent in Milna -we were supposed to be docking in Hvar but couldn’t because of bad Weather. That didn’t dampen our spirits though and before heading out to Dinner we all got tattoos by the fabulous Tattoo Artist, Brent. After Dinner we went to a few local Bars before heading back to the boat.
Up again on Sunday and heading from Split to Hvar, it was a rainy day so we spent time indoors in the covered area. When we got to Hvar the heavens opened up and it
really poured, we still got off the Boat and had another lovely Dinner with some very friendly waiters who rolled up the legs of their trousers and trampled through the river (that was the footpath) to get outside the Restaurant and serve half of us. (I was one of the brighter ones who moved inside the Restaurant!).
On Monday we moved on from Hvar to Mjet, Mjet was a small village so we wandered around and did a short Bush Walk then headed for a bite to eat before mucking around by the Boat. Katrina and I watched some of the boys trying to paddle in a Canoe they found but all they ended up with were Sea Urchins! Quite a few of our group were struck by these, they’re basically like little Sea Hedgehogs and if you step on them (by the rocks) they sprout up and their spikes go deep inside your foot (or other body part). If you don’t get them out with tweezers immediately they can cause a bit of pain and unluckily for Marie and Lucy they ended up having to go to Hospital with foot infections. The little swimming booties we bought are
Our awesome Bar on the Rocks
In Dubrovnik, courtesy of Marty and Marie supposed to stop this from happening but they didn’t turn out to be all that useful!
Later that night Marie, Marty, Jayden, Katrina and I headed to a little local Restaurant where we had a Seafood Feast. We watched them catch a Lobster for us and then shared that along with 3 kgs of Mussels and lots of Red Wine! We also had the local liquor
‘Grappa‘ to settle our food and toasted ‘Chivelli’. Another fun night on the boat afterwards.
On Tuesday we left Mjet for Dubrovnik, we explored the town and thanks to spent the afternoon at an amazing bar on the Cliffside of Dubrovnik looking out over the ocean, it was the most amazing view and such a relaxing afternoon. Later on we had more Seafood at a Local Restaurant and then headed to a few bars where they had massive Cocktails you drunk with long straws from a big Jug.
Wednesday we moved on to Korcula, Cam had decided that today would be Pirate Day so we all dug out what we had from our suitcases (and a few things bought along the way) and had a great time in the Village dressed
as Pirates. We spent that night in a cool Bar by the Waterside and watched the boys have Sword Fights on the Brick Wall.
Thursday was a scorcher and we had the best day sunbathing, swimming and playing ‘get to know you games’ (clearly way too many people work in Office Jobs..) When we got into Makarska we looked around the Markets and then in the evening spent the night in the most awesome bar ever called Deep. It was literally inside a Cave and right by the water. Such a great night out with all the Crew!
On Friday after spending the morning in Makarska (and feeling a wee bit worse for wear) we headed back to Split to spend one final night on the boat before heading home on Saturday. We spent that evening in a great bar up a steep Path with lots of steps and on the way back to the Boat watched a very entertaining Street Performer who decided to make Brent part of his show. A bite to eat and a few quiet drinks before bed on the boat.
We were all up early on Saturday 27th for Breakfast and then
Outside our fav Pizzeria
On our last day in Split signed off, big hugs all round for Andros the Crew Manager, Markos the Sailor and Barman and Captain. We spent our morning watching the AB’s vs Italy in the Sports Bar then went back to our old faithful Pizzeria Karaka where we’d had such a brilliant day when we first arrived. The Waitresses were very surprised and excited to see us again and we had a really nice last day swimming, sunbathing and drinking in the sunshine.
We headed on the bus to the Airport around 7.30pm and in true Easyjet fashion our flight was delayed by an hour so we sat (and slept) around the airport until it eventually departed. We were home by midnight after the best holiday ever.
I woke up on Sunday morning feeling very deflated to be back in London after such an amazing trip but there has been heaps happening lately so at least I got back into the swing of things in the end.
The only downside to the holiday was that I got an infection in my foot and was off work for a whole week afterwards, on the bright side though I got time to write this blog,
it's just a shame our internet stopped working and I couldn't send it!
So here it is anyway, there are loads of photos so be sure to check them out. I'll be in touch soon (if all goes to plan) with more pics from my flatwarming, Sunderland, Lovebox and Paris (which is our last CDO this weekend coming -can't wait).
Love and Miss you all and can't wait to see you in just over 4 months!
