Rooftop Soire
Our rooftop party area at Hotel Loza on Pag Island, Croatia. Hello from the overcast and windy Croatian island of Pag!
Unfortunately Croatia hasn't turned on the special treatment for us today but the steamy weather is still enough to see me walking around in bathers and a kaftan. The streets are quite busy here, with quad bikes and scooters, mopeds and rollerbladers - its a town that doesn't seem to sleep! ...and in parts in quite literally doesn't! We arrived here last night at about 8pm and at 11 a group went to a '24-hour beach' which includes built in bars and dancefloors, 6 inch deep in water which everyone goes crazy splashing around in! Our group of friends prefered a AUD$9 bottle of Champagne and a patio-chat - as we're all connected by one massive verandah (5 rooms or so).
Tonight though we are going to venture to this party-beach, just to experience it! Apparently drinks are about the same price as Australia, although we were expecting them to be much cheaper. Croatia's currenczy is the kuna, which is about 4.4 to the Aus dollar. It's so odd paying 14K for a Coke or 90K for a steak! But it works out not too bad in the end.
Gondola in Venice
Onboard a gondola in the Grand Canal, Venice. It's definitely cheaper than the rest of Europe!
We were disappointed by the shell-grit like beaches today...apparently there are sandy beaches but walking 20 kilometers doesn't really make it worth while. So many people here sunbake on the concrete on the piers and simply dive in and out of the water...it's quite bizarre!! It makes me think we take our Australian beaches for granted 😞
Yesterday we left Venice bound for Croatia. Well Venice DID add up to my expectations! The city is a maye of tiny lane-ways jam-packed with inviting boutiques filled with lush merchandise - I could have bought something in EVERY shop I went in too. I thoroughly enjoyed my gondola ride through the canals and got a great insight into just how difficult it is living and working in Venice...getting all of your stock in - what a nightmare! Also, the thing I didn't think of prior which hit me on he gondola was the smell of stagnant water...Liv would hate it and it would be an EHO's nightmare! There were also a few dead rats and pidgeons in the water 😞 Aside from those few minor details, I LOVED Venice and can't wait
Ponte di Vecchio, Venice
So much excellent shopping in Venice - make sure you shop around!! to go back! I will always remember the many Venetian mask stalls and beautiful 'Murano' glass stores. No to mention their affinity for beautiful stationery and writing supplies, an affinity which I share and stocked up on in Venice!! We found everything was fairly cheap compared to Rome as well - everything is amazing quality in Venice.
You will be pleased to know I didn't pass out in Venice (can you imagine falling in a canal in Venice!!) or have anything stolen 😊 I am back on track with my money situation and also feel much more refreshed after my big sleep in today! We have two full free days here in Croatia and we all desperately need the time to recharge.
I have been sending postcards slowly but please don't be offended if you haven't got one...apparently the Italian post service is on strike and the only place that's operational in Italy is the Vatican. Ooops would have been good to know that prior to sticking my cards in a post box!!
I can't wait for Berlin coming up as I'm planning on visiting it's world famous Zoo on our free afternoon. I also can't wait
Pag Waterfront
The markets that lined the waterfront on our Croatian Island. for the great meats and massive beers mmm!
I best leave you here, thinking of all of you - wish you were here!! Thanks to those who've been worried about me and messaged me 😊 Talk soon xx Alyse-Grace

Hi Lycey, Hope your all ok after your ordeal. Terrible... Everything sounds exciting and so different to here. I guess if you lived there, they would say not, as you get used to the one place being the same. If you see any cheap soccer shirts for the boys and you have room grab them and I will fix you up. Seems ages you have been gone. I hope it feels slow for you. Make sure you stay safe and keep having lots of fun. Glad your ok, drink lots of water and I will talk to you soon. love raine xxxxx
