Bobi on ŠpanjolaToday was our last full day in Hvar. I really like this town. Everything is quite compact here - even more so than Dubrovnik - it seems. There are always pepoke that seem to be on their way someplace.
To begin the day, everyone but Carrie and Dad made the hike up the hillside above Hvar. We went early enough to avoid most the heat of the early day sun. The views from the 13 century fort (that's when construction started) were incredible. It reminded me of the scenes that were shot here from the one season TV series MISSING. It was also the location of a small museum that had amphora from 3 different shipwrecks from Antiquity. One of the ships was originally from Asia Minor, another from Italy and the third was from Spain.
After returning to the Centar, we visited Hvar's market to buy some fresh fruit for breakfast. We also hit the bakery before we returned to the apartments. After a fruit and pastry feeding frenzy, I took a load of people back to Pokonji Dol for a little swimming. after dropping them off, I returned to the apartment and picked up Dad, Mike and

Bobi & The Wicked Witch of the North Tom to head back up to Španjola (fortress) on the road. Dad was pretty excited to get back up there and claimed there is no more beautiful expanse on earth.
We then made our way back to the beach where we had some lunch, swam, and the kids enjoyed the paddle boat/slide for another hour. They got to spend time with their new Croatian friends - Barto & Nika Benjak.
After saying goodbye to our new friends, we got Grandpa back for a nap.
In the early evening we headed to the Centar once again for some shopping and supper. After we ate, we walked the riva for a bit and then headed home to get some things packed for our departure tomorrow. We are leaving for Stari Grad at 9 am to catch the ferry to Split. From there, we head to Rogožnica.
