After sorting out apartments this morning, I moved across into the one with the balcony and sea view. Very nice little spot as I look out over a mini orchard - in the backyard of other places here. Once I was settled in, I decided to walk along the coast in search of a beach to spend some hours at. The coastline is stunning with lots of rocks along the way, until you come around a corner and see a beautiful bay. I walked past the first one as I knew there were several more further along a rocky bush path. Each one I came to was more beautiful than the last but in the end I stopped at one called Robinson's. I hired a sun bed as the beach was all stones, and it only cost 50 kuna which is about $10. I settled in and enjoyed the sun and the sea. It is much cooler here than where I have been of late but still warm enough that you need to go for a swim. There is practically no humidity which makes the world of difference! The water here is also much cooler than the Mediterranean- so much so
that it takes a little convincing to get in! I had a lovey Tuna salad for lunch with a local beer, sitting by the sea. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. About 5ish I walked back to my apartment and showered and got ready to go out and meet some friends. A guy I used to work with, Rod Moran, and his friends were in Hvar too so we had organised to catch up for a drink and dinner. I met his partner Adam, his sister Karen and her friend Michelle. There was also another lady called Skye who they had met on the beach that day. She is from Manly in Sydney but now lived in LA. I walked from my apartment into the old town of Hvar, which was a lovely 20 minute walk along the harbour. There are some very expensive boats docked in this harbour! I met up with the gang at the Red Baron bar on the harbour and it was so lovely to see some familiar faces! Another lady I worked with in the CBA, Kylee also joined us for a drink. She had been on Santorini with Rob for his 50th
birthday celebrations and was now on an Intrepid tour that just happened to be in Hvar at the same time as us.
After a few drinks we wandered to find a restaurant that had been recommended to Rod. We found it but they didn't have a table free at that stage but told us to have a drink at the bar across the lane and they would get us. I think we eventually sat down to eat around 10pm. The food was amazing and worth the wait. We had a really fun evening and I enjoyed the walk back to my apartment around midnight!
