One day before we experienced that Dubrovnik was pretty busy with all those loud tourists but we still gave it a try and went to the old city. Since we knew they were shooting Game of Thrones there, we had to see a bit of Kings Landing. We ended up going crazy between the crowd. Everything was also double price of Zagreb and Drvenik. So it didnt take long for us to find our way out of the main street and get lost in the little streets. Except this tourist wave, Dubrovnik was a beautiful city and we found the perfect place to have dinner after a bit of walking. It was a small bay covered with the rocks and we sat at the stairs of an old castle. We had some food and beer and I think it tasted better than any other dinner we could had.
For the next day we kept a smart distance from the busy places and walked around. Our plan was to leave Dubrovnik but we had no rush either. On the way to the old city there is this amazing rocky cliff to the blue sea and the view is just so beautiful.
We were stapping to the old city again but we couldnt resist the beauty of the clear sea. We could actually see the rocks underwater from that distance and all I could think was to dive there. We climbed the stairs down to find a way to get down the cliff but it seemed hopeless. Thijs was checking around to see if the cliff was too dangerous to go down. There I met a young Australian and he told me not to try going down unless we were really good climbers. Ofcourse we had to climb down. It was so fun, and a bit challenging but eventually we made it without any injuries. The funniest thing is that we later realised there were stairs to go down the cliff some meters away from where we started climbing down.
The water was amazing. Deep deep blue with life hidden between the rocks. Chasing fish all around and feeling like I'm home again. Oh how I missed that feeling. We had 2 masks and I was so excited to show that world to Thijs. We really had a lot of fun diving and swimming there with the company of some fish.
After playing like two kids there for hours long we both were hungry and it was getting late. Happily climbing up was easier than going down. Our bags were still back at the hostel and I was feeling a bit shy for not leaving yet. They still let us take shower and cook there. Around 8 o clock we left with our house on our back and started to search for a place to sleep since we didnt want to hitchhike anymore. We were both tired and eventually we decided to put the tent at the cliff somewhere flat and safe to sleep. Of course it was not as easy as it seemed in the darkness with the bags back of us. We were both a bit annoyed and all we want was to sleep. We didnt go that deep in the cliff since it was not safe but we still managed to set the tent somewhere flat. It was far from the crowd and it was almost impossible to get disturbed by anyone since no smart person would climb down there at night.
We had a nice sleep in our tent next to the roots of a huge
tree. Our view was also perfect, the sea and the cliff beneath us, covered by trees we felt so amazing.
