11 Aug - one of just a few early starts on this trip, need to leave hotel at 0730 to catch train to Zagreb. All these Eastern European city names are making me feel like I'm taking part in the Eurovision Song contest 😊

We arrive in Zagreb and take a tram into the city centre. Extremely hot, so after lunch with the group beside the Kathedral, Ali and I don't really venture very far. A few beers on a quiet side street in fact, although other members of the group keep spotting us so we decide to at least wander round the old part of the town. St Mark's church has a beautiful tiled roof and the general ambience is laid back. I love taking photos of flags in the countries I visit (how sad!) and there's lots of opportunities here. Talking of which, one of the reasons for using travelblog is the additional info you get, as well as my chat. The flag and map of each country I am visiting can be accessed via each link.

A steep walk up round the city walls results in lovely roof top views of Zagreb.

We grab some pastries from a local bakery and head back to the hotel. A few vinos from the minibar help to wash down the extremely large pastries then an early night. 0430 wake up call tomorrow, ouch...
