Getting excited - the e-bikes are charged and ready to go; weather report good. On the ferry at 18.25 to St Malo - an overnight stay and then the train! For those not familiar with St Malo - a potted history! The ‘Cite’ is the original town, once surrounded by the sea and virtually impregnable to aggressors - the inhabitants were a cocky bunch who didn’t consider themselves French or Bretagne. Untouchable? During the interminable wars with the English they engaged in piracy and smuggling, then moving on to exploring North America. During WW2 the town was flattened by American bombers in the Allies attempt to secure a working port after D Day. Nowadays it is an extremely popular tourist destination with some lovely beaches to the east of the Cite and plenty of restaurants in ... read more

Dear All Greetings again from London, for the second of my two blog entries on my mini-travels to Jersey earlier this week. Here I plan to write up on my second two days on this lovely little Channel Island, which although were not quite so exhilarating and enthralling as the first two days, were pleasant and agreeable enough. I believe it was the weather which made a difference, which although I’m not complaining too much, was really quite sunny and bright on Monday. This meant that I stayed dry for the whole day, but in fact the day was more genteel and calm – I know that this really shouldn’t be a problem, but compared to the windswept exhilaration of Sunday, felt a bit mundane. Still, mustn’t grumble, and I enjoyed very much my final two ... read more

Dear All Greetings from London! I am not currently travelling, but have just returned from a short three-night visit to the nearby Channel Island of Jersey! I plan to write up my mini-adventure there in two blog entries, after having had a really lovely time there, despite (although actually often because of) pretty much the worst weather that the island could offer. It was refreshing, invigorating, and just wonderful to be out in the fresh, blustery air, refreshing the mind once more after the long autumn term stint at school. In this entry I plan to write up on my first two days there, exploring the west of the island. In my second entry, I plan to write up on my second two days there, exploring the east. To many people not from the UK, I ... read more

Just trying to squeeze in a few more school reports before being picked up by Mum to take us to the airport. At the moment, I'm most looking forward to going somewhere above 4 degrees. My feet are freezing.... read more

The UK’s Channel Island of Jersey was our spring weekend destination. Scott, Myles, Adam and I set out extremely early for Gatwick, 5.30am to be exact, yawn. We were soon on our way for the short flight south and landed to a crisp, sunny morning. After picking up the smallest car on the Island, 3 door Fiat, and all squeezing in we were off and soon at the main city; St Helier on the South Coast. Every town is ‘St’ something, and apparently each parish issues different drivers licences – so many odd things still going on in this part of the world. We all couldn’t check in to our hotel so decided to go for a burn across the Island to the North Coast. It only took about 15-20mins. The country side was very pretty ... read more

So its all really surreal that I leave to travel the world with my crazy sister Lindsey on Monday morning. Its almost as if im just popping to London for a weekend. But no here I am sat with my travel blow up pillow around my neck for one of the last times in my amazing double bed, with crumbs in and the duvet back to front and my cat laid next to me purring with the constant sound of the merton swimming pool generator next door. Im writing what will be my first blog entry, yet my last home entry I know in a few days il be sweating one out half way across the world. I am trying to take it all in, home comforts ect, spending time with the family and close ... read more
