Hello Everyone!

This is the first real blog entry, now that I have time to relax for a few minutes. I've been keeping a little journal of things that we've done since the first day, so here is a quick summary:

DAY 0 - Flying over the Atlantic

There was a full moon out over the calm Atlantic, quite an amazing site to see. I have never seen anything so amazing.

DAY 1 - Arrive in Sofia

We arrived safely in Sofia and were greeted by Alex's cousins Emo and Sylva. Nobody spoke a word of English, so Alex did all of the translating for us. We drove through the city back to Alex's grandmother's house where we would be staying for the next 2 nights.

Marcel & I immediately went for a nap when we got there - Alex caught up with his family, and with his Dad's parents who had just arrived as well. When we woke up we ate dinner, then went over to his cousin's house.

Later that night we went out with Alex's cousin Eva to downtown Sofia. We explored some old buildings and sites, and were very fortunate to observe a military marching training exercise for St. George Day which was the following day. We then went out to 2 bars, and crashed hard that night, from a combination of alcohol, jetlag, and excitement
