Ghent

Travelled to Ghent using the Eurostar, splashing out on an upgrade to 1st class so we could dine as we crossed northern France and Flanders. On arrival, got told that our €100/night booking at the Sofitel had been upgraded to a €425/night suite. Absolutely massive room, and without doubt the best I've stayed in.

Did the usual wandering around Ghent and it's bars, and watched the 5th night of the Ghent 6-day. Brad was flying, Cav wasn't...

Stayed in Ghent for a couple of days before moving on to Leuven.

Leuven

After travelling by train down from Ghent, spent the night in Leuven before travelling back to Bristol the following day on the train.

Watched Leuven play Bulldogs in the Belgian Cup and then stayed to watch Leuven play Liedekerke in the 2nd Division.

Stayed at the Boardhouse at Heverlee (http://www.boardhouse.be/). Excellent hotel and very good value for money. Very close to Heverlee train station for easy access, too.

Leuven is quiet, but the architecture in the old town is outstanding.
