Hello again pleasant people poised on poetry prosed by the Postmodern penmanship of Mr. Pagan! haha, its always nice to start with alliteration humour..
So, as i write this im on about the 7th day of an intended two night sleepover at my first couchsurfing place, i just cant seem to leave! but more on that a little later. first things first, i think i left you all with a perhaps slightly negative vibe on my travels (as mum so passionately observed), but dont fret because young brave lachlan doesnt get sad or weary or disgruntled, he just gets deep is all.. artists thrive on that stuff dont they? haha.. so anyway, Biarritz in France ended up being a beautiful place, but another town filled with a slightly ageing population. Erin and I invited a young aussie surfer to stay for a few days, under the proviso that he take me out into the waves and get me in the green room (surfer slang.. a tubular wave..). Unfortunately, the weather on our appointed day deemed the waves nothing less than formidable, but did I care? No, i dared! so, out i go jogging down to the water after an experimental expressionist dance performance on the beach (well, i was just trying to get my wetsuit on..) but it was all a bit not very fun. I got dumped a couple of times and ended up ditching the board, but my enthusiasm did not die so i frollicked and splashed around in my fluro wetsuit for a while, like any serious surfer does when the waves are too gnarly. After sadly leaving our lovely little free apartment we made our way to Bordeux on a train that was hurtling us there at 300km per hour! staggering; the hostess assuring us at 200 that the train wasnt usually this slow, it will accelerate when the track becomes smoother.. my god. but, the lady next to me seemed calm so i followed suit and simply commented on the weather.. (atrocious was the answer.). Bordeux was beautiful, and we did the typical touristy venture of grabbing a baguette, some cheese and a bottle of their cheapest (which the service station guy opened for us without blinking an eye) and found what was probably the ugliest spot to sit in France (next to a muddy river, with construction site commotion behind us and dirty container boats emtying their dirty bilge water in front) but nonetheless it was pleasant and typically Lockie to be there. It was a short stay, and a day later we got to Paris feeling very excited indeed. An hour after we arrived we were carted off to the Lourve (its like, this big uhh painting gallery place) and got free entry because it was the first friday of the month or something.. and managed to see the Venus de Lisa and the Mona Milo or something arty; i thought they were a bit dated personally but the other three thousand folk there rather enjoyed it.. perhaps its me? haha
We managed in our four days to see the Sac De Cur, Arc de Triumf, Eiffel Tower, all around the cool alleys of Mont Marte, and then some but all under a veil of rain rain rain.. big old fat rain, sideways rain, rain that got in ur shoes and ur gloves and up ur nose; thus i have a slightly disillusioned idea about paris that i will need to vilify in the future; basically i just dont see the point? Which brings me to Belgium! now this place i understand! no rain for a start, a mix of crazy beer drinking culture, peaceful and helpful inhabitants and another place where everything just sorta turns up Lockie. I was in Brussels for 3 days which was beautiful, said my goodbyes to Erin and jumped on the net to start couchsurfing. twenty four hours later i turned up here with a sheepish grin and a bag of pasta under my arm and hey presto! ive been here since. I have been very lucky to find these two girls; it only means ive gained more sisters in this world, if you guys know Stef and Rani then these girls are exactly the same in vibe, loving life and being free spirits whilst slowly changing the world in their own way. I helped out in one particular venture, after hearing that a radio station was raising money for better drinking water or some nonesense.. so, dressing up all weird like and bringing with us a saxophone, guitar, violin and bongo we busked our hippie hearts out for an hour, earning just over 30 Euro! (just under because of the beer we felt we deserved).. and now my karma points are in the positive and good things will happen to me.. heheh.. ive got god round my little finger. And, more music.. for the last week i have been recording guitar for a Psychedelic Trance DJ from Norway (it sounds bizarre, but he is actually simlple down to earth folk like i am..) so thats been going well too. Over christmas i was with one of my housemates groups of friends, again playing music and talking about life, the universe, the out there, the in there, haha.. yes, more hippies but i love 'em. So, as we speak i have just made plans to go to Maastricht in Holland for a few days, again couchsurfing but this time with a 26 year old lady with child, so should be a different experience again. Adventures are going very smoothly indeed and the new year will see a quick stint through germany, a visit to all my friends in london for a few weeks then home time! gotta catch some of that weather, i havent felt my toes for weeks. Missing ya all over this very festive season, and i will see you in a relatively short period of time i suspect. Love ya!
