Schloss Schonnbrun
This is part of the palace written about in the blog. We made it to Vienna, the bus trip was fine, probably the most comfortable long distance trip we have done. Jess and I completed the whole X-Men Trilogy on DVD (on my I-Pod) and spent a lot of time eating, sleeping, and watching the sights of the towns we passed by.
We took a bus from London to Dover, a ferry from Dover (bottom of England) to Calais in France, then up to Brussels in Belgium which was a cool quirky town, then through Germany, onto Vienna - Austria, through Linz. Whilst cruizing through Germany in the night we were randomly stopped twice for passport inspections. The 1st time was fine, but the 2nd time the driver failed to produce to right documents so the German police officer began to fire up, and we ended up waiting for at least 30 mins for this to be sorted out via their intercom. High on the hill of Schloss Schonbrunn with a nice view of Vienna. Sweeeet. Pity about the rain. It cleared up so that we got to run through the maze of hedges though. the police officer was 'Thanks Germany - Hail Hitler!'. That went down a treat.
So Vienna has been great the last 4 days. We have seen Stephansdom (St. Stephen's Cathedral) - a church built around the 14th Century, Shloss Schonbrunn - a Palace home to the some very important peeps including Maria Theresa and Franz Joseph whom Jess and I still have no clues about (check Wikepedia for facts), but Mozart made his first performance here at 6yrs old and the buildings and the view of Vienna were awesome. We also checked out markets at Nachtmmarkt, visited MuseumQuartier where Jess succesfully passed 1st round auditions at the TanzQuartier for S.E.A.D (a dance course in Salzburg), the NationalBiblothek, and the Vienna Marathon.
Going to Graz tomorrow, our Hostel here has been awesome except for running into an old guy from Perth. Vienna is too expensive so lets hope Graz is cheaper! Prost!
