This trip is a combination of bicycle touring, as well as, sight seeing in Munich, Germany; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Budapest, Hungary. Linda and I fly into Munich, Germany where we spend some time to visit several top attractions then catch a train to Passau and rent bicycles for about a 230 mile trek along the Danube River from Passau to Vienna, Austria.

Linda and I will cycle through various rural districts in upper and lower Austria, lodging in interesting baroque towns along the Danube. We hope to experience different landscapes such as the Machland, the Strudengau, or the famous Wachau. Hope to enjoy the many traditional Austrian delicacies from dumpling specialties and wines of the Buschenschenken taverns in the Wachau region. I am really looking forward to this cycling vacation. As one travel writer has described, traveling by car is like watching an amazing beautiful movie go by. Traveling by bike is like being in the movie.

After our 6 day self contained bike tour, we plan to hop on a train to explore Bratislava Slovakia followed by a train ride to Budapest for more sightseeing adventures.

If you follow our blog you can travel along with us and share our experiences. Hope you enjoy.
