Edit Blog Post
Well,
It has been a while since we last blogged! We have been travelling between Graz and Salzburg a lot this last month organising visas, houses, Austrian insurance, German translations, applying for grants and undertaking a 2 week German course. Im very happy to tell you all that I now have a visa, a house in Salzburg, appropriate documents to live in Austria, and my German is slightly better, however no grants as yet!
We climbed the Schlossberg in Graz about 3 weeks ago. It is a hill in the centre of graz with a massive clock on top. It is very pretty and has stunning views of Graz as well as numerous walks to take. Under the Schlossberg there are heaps of tunnels. Apparently, in times of war a massive siren would sound and the Schlossberg tunnels were a place of refuge for the people. Today, the tunnels are sealed off with bars, so we cannot enter, however every Saturday at 12pm the massive siren sounds (not for bombs) but to signify the start of the weekend! There is one area of the tunnel not sealed and they hold concerts and things there.
For the last 10 days Graz
Schlossberg
The view down, from half way up the stairs has held the World Choir Games. The city has been buzzing with over 400 choirs from around the world. We went to a couple of the free concerts and they were really good.
Every now and again we head off to the Kaiser-Josef-platz Markets. The meats in the shops smell and often have no form of refridgeration!!
Baba for now!
