After Baz’s long weekend introduction to snowboarding in January 2006, he was keen as a bean for a full week of burning thighs, aching backs and bruised bums. So in March 2006 we rallied the boarding troops - Sim, Si, Kent, Kirst, Matt & Faith - and chose our destination… Zell am See, Austria.
There’s not a lot I can say. It was a wicked trip and everyone had a ball. Early morning wake up calls by Si and Baz were followed by morning yoga stretches to enable us to stand upright and hobble our way onto the slopes.
Faithy had a wee fall off the board so she swapped to skis and had a much more enjoyable trip for it. Sim and I definitely improved since the last time we went together - a year before and it was both of our first time, we cried a lot. There was definitely less crying this time, result!
Baz picked this up so fast anyone would have thought he was born in the snow. Matty was definitely overtaking me in the skill set by the end of the trip. And Si and Kent & Kirst smoked us all.
Zell am See
Sim, C and Si outside our cabin We were all pretty exhausted most nights so there weren’t a lot of late ones, although we did check out the nightlife a couple of nights and it was cheese-a-rific!
Sim, Si, Baz and I had a day in Salzburg on the way home and what better way to see and appreciate this little town than to do The Sound of Music tour….enjoy…
