Sad Reality Hello
I don't wish to sound judgemental as I'm sure you are in no way aware of the true reality behind the scenes of the greyhound racing industry. Sadly, people don't know and it is not their fault as the industry keeps the truth hidden. Behind the healthy racing dogs is the reality. Thousands of dogs are bred and become surplus to requirements each year. Many of these are put down, shot or killed in other horrific ways. Others are left to wander with their ears removed to prevent identification from their tatoos.
While some owners are responsible, the industry is in denial about the thousands of dogs which go missing each year. Only last year, the newspaper, the Sunday Times, discovered a mass grave of 10,000 dogs which had all been shot in the head once they were no longer fit to race. Cruel treatment can also be metered out in kennels if dogs fail to win. All this despite the wonderful pets they make if given the chance.
I would urge you and your friends not to attend greyhound racing in the future and encourage others not to go. I believe the dogs deserve better treatment.
Sorry to have to inform you of this but i think it is essential that people know.
