Right, Currently in Salzburg living it up. Well I saw Mozarts birth place again and am going to try Italian-Pakistani cuisine this evening whatever that may consist of! Will be doing some touristy things tomorrow and then I'm meeting up with an Erasmus buddy Marylou in Vienna. This time round perhaps I'll see more than I did last time. Basically the high street!
I believe I owe you all a very large run down of what exactly has kept me so busy that I've been unable to regale (sp.) you with merry tales. Well, in a word, half term. Actually I'm getting ahead of myself it's been such a long time. Firstly the week in Piesendorf ended well. Great group, a few moments of friction with one of the party but after watching others down a beer in defiance all was well. I spent most of the following week skiing back in Mayrhofen and enjoying the glorious sunshine. So I'm thinking this is the life, easy! Then my next group arrived. Bit older so able to enjoy the virtues of the Yeti bar etc and a good laugh. Until they all started getting ill. I spent 3 days in a
row in the hospital with various ailments such as appendix removal and the like with a phone glued to my ear.
Quote of the week: "How the hell did they do this job without the aid of mobile phones?"
Very unfortunate as the group were lovely and the majority did enjoy their trip bar the 12 or so who were ill. So tired from these escapades half term hits and I had two groups. All very well and good but in 2 different hotels and towns. I did have a car hired for me to help out. First breakage of the season and awkwardness that got me in trouble with the office and suffice to say that plus PMS was making me wonder why I was doing the job. Luckily the 2nd group were brill so there was some time to relax! The end of the week was marked by a well earned party with two other resort managers who were doing the job from the week, my dutch waitress friend and a boarding instructor. Had an awesome night! I'm sure I consumed too much alcohol but enjoyed myself and danced stupidly Reagans/uni style and even got on
the bar for a bit of a wiggle to Skakira! Well got to make my mark somehow!
Week 2 of half term started off every bit as chaotic with both groups arriving more or less simultaneously. Both groups calm apart from a bit of a rucus with a coach driver who refused to drive longer. I hasten to add he was very strange and we had a good laugh after he told us "Don't ever touch my nose, I'll swing for you". Didn't see it in action but considered it! Spent more time in the doctors/hospital but not quite as much as the week before. Suffice to say they do recognise me now. If only there was the equivalent of frequent flyer miles in hospitals- would have a platinum card!!
It was this week that I developed my talent for motivational skiing songs. Ski with Kristin coming to an HMV soon! To the tune of the Vengabus is Coming- Hey now hey now, hear what I say now, perfect skiing is just around the corner. What can I say, I've found a niche in the market!!
With half term at an end it was time to calm
things down a little. New group from Kent arrived and after a little troublesome madame encouraged me, we were shouting "Oi Oi!" at random passers by from the lifts. All good banter. Luckily nothing too extreme happened but just a lovely group. Teachers had me cracked up all week with their hilarious jokes. I'm sure they are the worst when they're young.
So, onto the final week of work in my 5 week stint. An older college which I knew could go horribly wrong. Alcohol and skiing- who would think to combine them hey?! Interesting challenges - ask me sometime about the significance of "Bee Happy" which now haunts me!- but on the whole very amusing and good fun. Much amused watching the race for the dutch waitress too. What can I say, I'm running a dating agency here at times. Platinum service I tell you.
Otherwise now I have my Dad out for a visit and he leaves tomorrow. Been to Innsbruck and München and even ventured accross into Italy briefly. Hope to get the pictures up soon.
I've been corrupted by my Dutch friend- I swear she is a man magnet. Ah well, if she
attracts that many fit men on a regular basis, some have gotta come my way lol! We were up dancing on the bar again last night. Good fun!
Well I know I've missed loads of stuff out but hopefully photos will explain some and I don't want to bore you all too much. Hoping I will have some good tales after my time in Vienna...
Much love to all xx
