So we have arrived in salzburg and are currently in a little b&b but boy have we had an eventful day....

So about a week ago we booked a hotel in salzburg online for tonight and tomorrow night as we planned to leave our host today and head to our next host and salzburg was on the way so we thought we would stop there.......since then our next host let us down and after many emails to other people we didnt find anyone else to host us..so we asked if we were able to stay with family moerth on their farm and they said they would be very happy for us to stay as long as we like, our next step was to cancel the hotel we booked...

After trying to cancel online many times and it keep failing we then rang 3 different numbers, attempted to explain in english that we no longer wanted the room but failed so asked Leila to speak in german...the hotel said we could only cancel online on the website we went through ...so i sent 3 emails and got no replies! and rang the numbers again but nobody would accept responsibiity for cancelling bookings! (do NOT ever go on easytobook.com.....it may well be bloody easy to book but is fucking impossible to cancel)..anyway our only option was to go to this hotel for 2 nights and then go back to melk....and luckily Leila didnt mind and even said we could leave our luggage there and she will keep our room for us!!..some people are just so nice! so off we went on a 3 hour jouney to salzburg...

We found the hotel really easily, i literally guessed what way to go and then we were there, the problem was...we were there but nobody else was 'closed for renevation' the sign said! the main door was open so we walked inside and up 2 flights of stairs...not a person in sight! all dark everywhere and many locked doors..we found a buzzer and rang it at least 10times, finally we got an answer and it was the unhelpful man i had spoke to on the phone! i recongised the voice as he is turkish and you dont hear many turkish accents in Austria, he told us to go in and walk to reception where he would meet us! we went to a closed empty reception and waited...and waited,....and waited and nothing!!nobody! 2 key card were on the side with names on and neither where mine..we went back and rang bell again to speak to the invisible man and he said 'if u r booked here your key is on the side, if its not u do not have a reservation' GREAT so he did cancel it when i asked but just didnt tell me that!! so we now had nowhere to stay

we walked along and went in about 3 more hotels and enquired about a room but all really expensive and posh...by now its getting dark and everything around us is closing..we went tourist information and on the way agreed we would pay a max of 60 euros for a room, luckily the lady there was helpful and found a small family run b&b within our price range and booked it for us and here we are! but we only have one night here as it was just over 60 euros! so tomorrows mission is to find somewhere else to stay..i have a hostel booker app on my phone which tells u when rooms are available, shows a map and gives prices but fails to tell u which ones are closed in winter and apparently alot are!!

tired from travelling

i shall start enjoying salzberg tomorrow.......for now i will have a shower and an early night xxx

the entry says im somewhere else but we are in salzberg it just wont let me change it for some reason....the place it says was where we was earlier on our way here
