Horrible, horrible nights sleep. As expected there was a mosquito in bed with me and new bites arrived every few minutes; feet, face, hands. I got up twice to have a cold shower to relieve the itch. Nightmare. Breakfast is fried eggs, omelette, French toast. I ask if there are any no egg options he says they can do toast with cinnamon and sugar. He adds Cucumber and tomato because he feels like my plate looks empty; it is but I appreciate the thought. I eat breakfast with Emma and two English girls from Norwich. They are planning to go the beach so I join them for a few hours as they say there is shade. The beach is all stones and one of the girls has water shoes which she raves about so Emma and I end up buying some for ten euro. They’re game changers for the stony beach. We sit for a while reading books and sunbathing alternatively. Emma hotspots me so when Deysha messages she is on her way I head to meet her on the corner by the hostel.
We walk up the hill together and she checks in. She is in a different room
to me buy only next door. We head back to the beach to get my stuff and join Emma and the English girls for a sandwich then we head into town. It is past the bus station but the town is busy and vibing. I really like it and the beach here is sandy not stones. We swim for a while and the ocean is super cool and refreshing. After a swim we wander around for a bit then head back. We go the other beach to pick up things I’ve left and have a last swim. There is a dog that we saw at the hostel yesterday but today it is super aggressive and won’t let us near the shaded area. I go for a sunbed and it really goes at me but I manage to get it to back off. Deysha is scared of dogs so is miles away. As we head back to the hostel I realise I have forgotten my phone. One of the girls says it’s on the sunbed but the dog won’t let us anywhere near it. I need it though so I go for it and the dog launches at me. One of
the girls throws stones at it and it runs away so fast. I grab my phone quickly and thank them. They say it already bit someone today, a guy has has to go to hospital. I am relieved I managed to get my phone safely. Back at the hostel we shower, change and head out to watch the sunset. We watch it from the beach then head to a restaurant that was recommended to us. Half the hostel is there and with good reason, the food us amazing. We meet the owner who tells us he lives in Glasgow part of the year which was where he earned the money to buy this restaurant. He comes back here every summer to run it with his family and sounds winters in Glasgow earning more money. Crazy to think a job in Glasgow earns you enough to buy a restaurant that your whole family lives off. We wait a while for our order to be taken so get a free shot of raki as an apology. Its Deyshas first raki and she hates it so I end up finishing it. Back at the hostel we chat quite socially for a bit before
heading for bed. In my room everyone is sat up still so we chat for around an hour before sleep. We talk about the dog and they tell us that hes been hanging round for months and is a super sweet dog but that last night one of the boys got too drunk and tortured him, throwing rocks at him so today he’s super aggressive and they will probably have to destroy him which is sad because he was a lovely dog before this guy abused him. Its really sad and I hate the unnamed guy who did that because the hostel can’t have a dog hanging around that bites guests. Today I have sprayed my bed with mosquito repellent so I am hoping the biter stays away. It is around 1 when we all head to sleep.
