So after narrowly missing out on a shark bite, people rotting in tents and a crazy drug lord adventure (The Beach btw), we left our last Caribbean island - sniff. After we left the bar we only had to walk around the corner, most of which was under cover. We ended up being shin deep in fast flowing water. Quite an interesting walk home, especially after a few Panamas.

It could of cost $25 return in a taxi, but if you're us and you manage to find an unmarked bus stop under a fly over in the middle of Panama City you get to go for $0.35. Nice.

Being raised by 24m. The boats pay by weight - some as much as 200K. A man once swam from the Caribbean to the Pacific and paid $0.80!

The boats travel through another set of locks and then across the country to the Caribbean side to go through more locks down to the sea.

We watched this move through the lake - really quite impressive.

Massive feat of engineering. You can't help but be impressed.

Even we couldn't stomach beer at 3.30am.

We got up at 2.30am to catch a cab at 3 to take us to the airport. 17 hrs of travelling and we finally made it to Quito, Ecuador.

Panama
Your Gt grandfather, Gt Gt grandfather and grandfather were all called Alfred Lee but they did not work on the Canal - at least I don't think so!! A panama hat would have helped keep the rain of your heads. What happened to Willy? Did he get wet? Great blog keep them coming Love MAD

We decided not to include it on the map as MIA is not a place we want to remember. It´s rubbish! Here´s hoping LAX is better. xxx

Yep, Miami airport is totally sucky! Have got stuck there a few times on the way home. Welcome to South America though and enjoy Ecuador! x
