Santa FeSanta FeSanta Fe

Check out the big house, very rare for Central America.
Hello everyone,
We just left Santa Fe, spent the night in David and now we are in Boquete. Santa Fe was a very small mt. town with barely anything in the town. There was probably about 6 public buildings in total and no supermarket, internet, bank, etc. It was a very peaceful 4 days in the mountains. We stayed at a guest house with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. At night because there are few lights in the town we could see the stars extremely well and we even saw some fire flys. Since the town was so quiet at night, there was nothing to do so we watched South Park on the community television. It was funny because we watched the episode where the kids go on a choir tour to Costa Rica. It was pretty hilarious! The guest house was wonderful besides the fact that there were two screaming babies the whole time. Since we were staying with a family, we had to deal with their children. Lucas was just about ready to jump off a cliff because of the screaming and crying (these weren´t just regular babies...they were alien screamer babies). Therefore, we spent most of the days going on hikes and about 5 mins exploring the town (that is about how long it takes). Lindsay was really happy because the family had a little puppy named Tucca, so whenever the house mom wasn´t looking she snuck him inside. One day we went to a house that had 265 different species of orchids, unfortunately only a few were blooming. Yesterday we took a very long bus ride to David and then stayed the night in the city. Today, we took a bus to Boquete and it was extremly hot. They overcrowed the bus once again and some lady brought a dog on the bus and it puked everywhere. It was gross! So far Boquete seems very nice. It is another mountain town but it is more developed and has more to offer. The coffee here is amazing! Boquete is known for their coffee farms and beautiful surroundings. The town was actually founded by Italians so there are a few in the community. A lot of people from the United States own businesses and houses here so english is widely spoken. We actually got to eat a real salad today which is a first and this time

Missing you in Corvallis... :(
Lindsay, that puppy is so cute. Sounds like things are going good for the both of you. Chris and Brian are coming to visit in Jan. And you're not going to be here. Sad day. I'll send you an email soon with some recommendations from a friend on places to visit in Central America. I'm must go now, bye.

Just kidding
The old saying is proven true once again ... never do a film with a puppy because you'll always get upstaged. And apparently such is the fate of senor Lucas, the man in the tree. One of the best pictures of the trip so far...confident, strong, pensive, native, watching as life goes by like a river. Yet as life passes it may also settle in, like a puppy in our lap. What a warm, sensitive, and personal picture. If these two photos are any indication, you two are having a very enriching experience.... Take care.
