We´ve got a lot of love for Nicaragua. Spent most of our time there in San juan del sur, a litttle surf town where we were trying to hone our surfing skills. Came across a trio of amusing Texan boys who we went on a deep sea fishing adventure with and later cooked up a storm with the prized, massive yellow-fin tuna. After surfing different spots up and down the coast we took some time out from our hectic schedules and relaxed for a couple of days at an organic hideout by a lake where we feasted on some great food, swam in olympic sized natural pools and watched the indigenous community riding around on bulls (not entirely tame) due to a lack of horses.... Then we headed for a bit of culture in the colonial town Granada where the horse and cart prevails. However the gem of a hostel we found there meant we didnt get out much to witness that culture but it´s the thought that counts.

Over to the Caribbean side to the Bay Islands of Honduras where we stumbled across another beauty of a place to stay - a little wooden cabin with an ocean view and pool with swim up bar where we attempted to get through all the cocktails on the list... Made the most of the World´s second largest coral reef with incredible snorkelling everyday and a bit of dolphin spotting. The island´s locals were a jovial bunch, reminiscent of an 80´s Lilt advert, and kept us amused during the evenings.

Next the Mayan ruins of Copán to check out some big stones that have been there for a while. An interesting old Mayán character befriended us and took us on a jaunt through the forest pointing out variuos hallucinogenics and ancient remedies, most of which he looked like he´d recently tried out..

I thought the last lot of photos were brilliant but the latest ones from Copan were amazing! I must get a camera like yours, or is it just the skilled photographer? Is that the same surf board you bought in costa rica? it looks a different colour or are you on a more skilled smaller one Mark! Thanks for keeping the blog up to date I so look forward to seeing what you've been up to and all the pics. lots of love Mum
