Guadelupe Church
Beautiful old church. So nearly a week has passed since I got here. Time really is flying, hard to believe that in 5 weeks I will be back in Australia. Not much to really report on this blog as I've been keeping it pretty low key in Nicaragua, waiting for my adventure in Cuba and finally Carnival in Panama.
So lets start where I left off earlier this week. So by day 3 of the Spanish classes I had quit because this organisation was the most unprofessional bunch I can imagine a language school to be. Teachers took no interest and was getting nothing from it. So Thursday and Friday consisted of me relaxing and wondering the streets of Granada. Though on the Wednesday afternoon I did go to a bar to watch the 2nd leg of the Barcelona v Real Madrid in the 1/4 finals of the Copa Del Rey, which was an exciting match with Barca progressing 4-3 on aggregate after a final score of 2-2.
Granada is extremely beautiful with its colonial buildings but is definitely no Antigua. The buildings are similar but Granada feels a lot more city like with paved roads and a distinct lack of Tuk-Tuks.
Colourful Granada Street
Like Antigua the buildings are are very colourful. Though there are a lot of horse and carriages doing city tours for the tourists. The Central Park here is very nice and shaded and a great place to relax from the stifling hot sun. Apparently December and January are the cold months, I'm finding that hard to believe!
So after looking at the central sights, most stuff is based around Parque Central, I took a wonder down to Lago de Nicaragua. Whilst it was peaceful and nice to stop for a breather the lake is definitely no Atitlan but the islands in the middle are supposed to be supurb. If I had a bit more time/money I probably would have ventured out at some point. On the walk back to central Granada noticed a lot of statues and busts dedicated to heroes of first fighting for independence from Spain and then from the right wing Somoza dynasty of the 20th Century. They like their statues here.
Friday was just another chilled day, went to sign up for a week of Spanish classes at the school that is rated number 1 on tripadvisor and most of the process was done in Spanish again showing just how good my

Like I said its no Atitlan. teachers in Guatemala were. So decided I'll pretty much just be studying and relaxing until I leave for Costa Rica next Sunday morning. Will hit the market up at some point to see if I can get some required tacky tshirt or something as well as get the postcards I've promised to send people which will get sent Monday. Talking of Monday, when my classes start, I got a complimentary 5 day pass to a gym and spa the school are friends with so yeah will be making use of that next week from Monday. Anyways gonna keep this blog shirt and sweet and just leave you with some pictures.
