Happy New Year to all our readers! Here is it, the first venture of Tiffany and Leslie in Central America...and a pretty long trip to reach Little Corn Island, on the Caribbean side of Nicaragua. We left LAX just before midnight on United, direction Houston....3 hours flight, 4 hours transfer, and 3 more hours flight to Managua. Happy New Year!
I believe we all know they are teenagers. They are told often, by other adults how lucky they are, so I'm sure the message has gone through. Now the question is what will they do with it. Will it help them to raise as adults raising their own standards...or will it make them spoiled young adults, not worthy of the chances they have received. Most will have to fight to get even a little of what they have already received and experienced. I acknowledge that I have put the level pretty high. I, too, would have dream to have experienced what they did at such a young age. My goal is only to give them the best tools, what they will do of it...I won't be in control of it in few years, I'll just know that I gave the most I could....and that life will go on, with love...and few expectations...

Yes, what will they do with all of this???
I recall our conversation in Denver a couple of years ago in which we discussed the choices they have to make. I'm confident that they will not make the wrong choices, as they adore you and wouldn't want to disappoint their Dad.

"with love...and few expectations..."
I love your attitude here! How wonderful that you've shown your kids so many amazing delights, but don't pressure them to follow you when older. A great example was Leslie studying on his own. They seem so happy and not at all spoiled--I've so enjoyed watching them grow. And what a perfect way to end your dawn to dusk, whirlwind holiday--a little relaxing in paradise before they hit the books. Happy New Year to you all, too!

Thanks for your kind words Tara
Once kids turn adults, I believe life is reflected as in any friendship. If you have things in common, passions you share....than you are more incline to spend time together living these passions. I have see so many example of parents/daughter or son sharing one passion....and spending their holidays together....not because of the family link, simply because they had a common goal. Not sure these two will travel like me, and for sure maybe not as much as me. When we hit a small island...I'm still a kid and want to tour it as soon as I can....they don't share that curiosity for the moment....I guess remaining connected is more important for the new generation, than getting lost! But I'm sure that through diving, skiing, etc....we will find common ground...and isn't diving exploring! And to the point of pressure or not....that will always be an open question! Smile!
