Tuesday 7 February Another good night's sleep. Nothing planned for today, so we had a slow start. Ambled off to Orquidea for breakfast. My current favourite breakfast is cheese & onion omelette, from the egg station prepared at your request. Followed by one pancake covered in syrup. After breakfast we went through the reception area. The second week of our cruise would have started today. The ship is back in operation and some people are transferring to the ship. This is not an option for us due to us cancelling the whole thing and taking a different holiday. A guy in the bar last night, who had done the same as us, said they had spoken to TUI to try and get back on the cruise, but TUI said No. Then off to the beach to ... read more

Thursday 2 February We spent a quiet day around the resort. Breakfast in the Orquidea. We strolled along the beach late morning and sat for a while having a drink. On our return we then lunched in the beach restaurant. In the evening we had a reservation in one of the speciality restaurants at 6.30 pm. The Dolce Vita and from the name you might guess, Italian themed. An enjoyable meal. Friday 3 February This was our booked tour for Kingston and meeting in the lobby at 7.45 am. We didn't make any effort for breakfast, so just had coffee in the room. A small coach arrived and with one stop at a Rui hotel along the way, there were 14 of us. We headed through the island on the new toll road built by the ... read more

So last Saturday four of the crew left the villa leaving just five. Life calmed down quite considerably along with the consumption of rum. We've been making the most of our private beach which is around a ten minute walk down the road. The beach is petty much emtpy most of the time, sheltered by a natural breakwater, the water is calm and the sand is soft. Trying to remember the sequence of events is tricky so here's what we've been up to in no particular order. The beach has a bar which has superb jerk chicken and a very odd looking and tasting local rum punch, which lives up to it's punch name. Red Stripes are a refreshing way to cool down especially after a mammoth snorkel, which Steve and I did off the rocks ... read more

Bonjour, sorry about the delay in a blog. We've been a bit swept away in relaxation that getting up and making a drink seems a bit of a chore. The Villa met our expectations and more. It's huge, with too many bedrooms to count, it has a pool table which requires a great deal of skill to rack up the balls let alone pot anything, but all good fun none the less. We have a bar that we stock daily, but we keep getting through the rum like it's juice so daily trips to the supermarkets have been on the cards. A favourite drink is rum and Ting. Ting is wicked, I also drink it with gin just so I can say 'can I have a gin and Ting please'. Little things. Steve's birthday went with ... read more

I must apologize for being so delinqiuent but you are having fun everything else seem so so trivial. I'm sipping on a mojito and swinging in a hammock while I write this blog with our free wireless access! We've been here for three days and already I feel right at home and dread the thought of ever going back. I must admit that this place has really blown us away. The hubby is off playing golf (not at the hotel about 5 mins away); the kids are off with the nanny and I have a Spa appointment in 2 hrs - life is good! So our nanny was much more than I thought she would be. Janice is so attentive, courteous and detailed. From the momenet she got those kids they have been hers every since, ... read more
My heaven

Its day 5 and I am feeling kind of sad knowing that in just 2 days it's time to go back to the real world. My children are constantly on the move with our nanny (I swear she must be a robot to keep up with them), my hubby has found his passion in scuba diving and me...well let's just say I am in "Mummy Heaven"! Janice has become our saving grace and without her I don't think we would have been able to enjoy this resort to its fullest. We went off-property to Dunn's River Falls Tour in Ochos Rios and the kids got a little fun swimming with the Dolphins at Dolphin Cove which I may add is a little pricey but definitely worth it to see the kids happy! We even took Janice ... read more

Thursday get up, get ready for work. Go downstairs for breakfast, it's fish. CRAP! I thought we weren't going to have it anymore. Guess not. Head into work, Rocky is running late (again). He has taken to getting shakes in the morning before he picks us up, and sometimes he's late to get us because he is enjoying his cool refreshing beverage. Keith and I joke that we're clearly not paying him enough to have him bring us one too. Get to work and do some internet "research" on recipes for when I get back to the states, furniture for my apartment, re-decorating ideas for my place, and dogs that are available for adoption. At this point in my trip I am a CRAIGSLIST pro - if you have any questions about it, be sure to ... read more

We survived our first trip with kids out of the country and the flight was as bad as I thought it would be. Cameron (4 yrs) could not keep still and was constantly kicking the chair in front of him, forcing the passenger in front us to change seats so as not to turn around and strangle him. Katie (Ms. Princess) slept most of the way and woke up in time to realize that we left her favorite doll, then it was hell to pay after that. The flight on Air Jamaica was good despite the fact that my children were driving me insane and my husband decided to give up calming them down after about 1.5 hr into the flight and left all the work to me (typical men). We arrived in Jamaica about 11am ... read more

So we arrived at FDR around 1:30 pm very much exhausted but at the same excited for what's to come. My two kids were both knocked out - poor things completely exhausted from the trip. We are all starving and couldn't wait to get our hands on that Jamaican grub! We were greeted nicely as we came off the bus and were handed complimentary fruit punch, champagne and bottled water. I sent the hubby to register at the front desk while I attend to the sleeping kids, afterall everything was pre-arranged through our Travel Agent, so I didn't anticipate any problems and there were none. I couldn't take my eyes off the beautiful trees and flowers, they were everywhere - I could feel my allergies starting to act up but didn't care as I knew I ... read more

So we haven't travelled since the arrival of the kids (4 & 6 yrs) and we are somewhat exciting and nervous and the same time. My 4 yrs old (Mr. Busy-body) is my major concern as he cannot sti still for 1 minute let alone almost 4 hours on a place. My 6 yr old (Princess) is too busy with her dolls to give us any trouble. I'm excited because mainlky I think we found the perfect location for our holiday. After months of researching, we narrowed it down to one location, Franklyn D. Resort & Spa, Runaway Bay, Jamaica. What basically sold us was the vacation nanny, any opportunity to get additional help with my two kids is okay with me. So you get this nanny, and apparently she takes care of the kids all ... read more
