Sooo, last week was Samana Santa, Easter week. Quite a big thing this section of the world. Basically, it sucked because everything was closed the whole time. Even our beloved internet cafe! (Mind you it did open once or twice). I've become an avid reader within the past week. I finished my book and swapped with Gaelyn. Now i'm reading ''A Walk In The Woods" which is pretty funny. About hiking which i may have to try sometime. On a larger scale than D of E. Other than reading i've just been hanging out with people. We built Monday-Wednesday because the family are too poor to go away for the week. Friday Gaelyn had a free house so I went to hers and we made vegetable soup. So good! Except we had warm juice because we had to boil the water, decontamination and all that.

Oh yeah, before the soup we went to the Easter parade in La Esperanza. There were pictures all down the street made of coloured sawdust. Some were pretty good. Thats an understatement but i'm not gonna bother changing it. The parade then moved through the street and trampled the sawdust pictures. Haha. At one

of the pictures there was a little group of probably school kids dressed up as characters from the Easter story. The guy dressed as Jesus kept looking at me and smiling then looking away etc etc. The point of that story was to explain Gaelyn's great quote, "Erm, I think...Jesus is flirting with you!" The parade in general was interesting for a while but got kinda samey so we snuck out and made soup.

Easter Sunday itself was quite an event. It was also Sayra's 9th birthday so the morning was blowing up cool animal shaped balloons. (thanks dad for that one! The kids loved them). I was taken to the house of, some family member and we ate lots. I wasn't given meat so was happy. I played with the kids and ate mango...and played with the bird. In the evening back at the house I gave Sayra her presents (the only ones she got can you believe?!...Ana said they didn't have enough money to buy her anything at the moment because they're having construction done on their old house.) Anyway, i got her a game of battleships, a modelling clay set type thing and chocolate. The clay

was a hit for sure and Fran likes the battleships. The chocolate's bad and Honduran but they seem to like it. Easter day passed without a single chocolate egg. Too much religoin, too little chocolate i say!

Today I sang with the little kids. They're getting pretty good at head shoulders knees and toes so i guess i'm not totally on my own. Feels like it! Cringeee. Yeah then 7th and 9th grades same old same old.

Oohhh! When i use the bathroom over here i'd expect to see a few mosquitos, the odd spider...thismorning i was greeted by a frog!! He could be a friend of Gerald the mouse who by the way has returned. He scraped at my door all night freaking me out after having just read the end of 'Perfume'. There was a power cut so i couldn't turn the light on to be sure it wasn't some crazy guy out to kill me. It was a mouse....the pile of sawdust proved that. Furthermore, the night after he was on my bed. Now THAT was scary!!! Prospect of rabies, sooo not fun! Right, i'm going to see if they have red peppers in Honduras

now. If so i'm going to stuff some for dinner perhaps tomorrow. Hasta Luego! xxxxx
